The AFL is engrained in the fabric of Australia. Our vision is for everyone to love and connect with Australia's game.
About us
The AFL is an extraordinary force across the sporting, social, and cultural landscape. Our vision is for everyone to love and connect with Australia’s game. We have a strong workforce presence in most States and Territories of Australia including Northern Territory, QLD, NSW / ACT, Victoria and Tasmania. As an organisation, the AFL works tirelessly around the country at all levels to enhance and grow Australia’s game – from grassroots to the elite level. We are focused on ensuring we attract and retain great people in both permanent and casual roles at all levels and within all areas of our industry. Importantly, we aim to reflect the communities where our game is played by recruiting locally where possible to strengthen our connection to the ‘grassroots’ of our game. The AFL's purchase of Marvel Stadium in Docklands, Melbourne, further diversifies our workforce with more than 1000 casuals employed to make every moment matter for our fans and customers.

The NAB AFLW Sydney Derby IV was honored as Event of the Year at the 2025 NSW Sports Awards. Held at Henson Park – the home of AFLW in Sydney – the derby welcomed a bumper crowd of over 7,000 people to achieve a new attendance record for AFLW at the venue, as the GWS GIANTS’ stunned the Sydney Swans with a seven-point victory during a tense and tight clash. The derby coincided with the official Stage 1 opening of the multi-million dollar redevelopment of Henson Park, designed to elevate the game day experience for players, officials and fans at the iconic Inner West ground. The AFL was proud for members of the wider footy community in NSW to be nominated at the NSW Sports Awards, including umpire Michael Barlow as Official of the Year, Isaac Heeney as Athlete of the Year, and our own AFL COO Tom Harley as Administrator of the Year for his previous tenure and service to the Sydney Swans. This week at AFL House we came together to recognise the 2025 NAB AFLW Grand Final week and celebrate an extraordinary Season 10 of W. Joined by AFLW GM Emma Moore, EGM Football Operations Laura Kane, North Melbourne champion Jasmine Garner and Carlton icon Darcy Vescio, our team proudly donned T-shirts designed by Darcy for this year’s AFLW Pride Round. After a decade of investment and building strong foundations, we’re seeing the results across W in 2025. The footy is better than ever, we’ve once again broken our club membership record with 84,644 AFLW members, attendances across marquee games and themed rounds have increased by 40 per cent, and women and girls participation is thriving with more than 144,000 players across the country – delivering wins for the community and the industry. This weekend marks the pinnacle of our Season 10 celebrations: a sold-out Grand Final under lights at IKON Park on Saturday 29 November, with the Roos and Lions set for a third-straight Grand Final showdown as they battle for the ultimate glory. If you can’t make it to the game, the 2025 NAB AFLW Grand Final will be broadcast live on the Seven Network, 7plus, Fox Footy on Foxtel, Kayo Sports and Binge. #SeeyouattheW
