  • Out with a Bang at Bell Bay! This week marks a major milestone in Tasmania, with the controlled demolition of the Bell Bay Power Station control building — paving the way for ABEL Energy’s green hydrogen and methanol project. McMahon Services was proud to partner with Hydro Tasmania, as the specialist licensed contractor delivering this highly complex and technical demolition. 🔹 28kg of explosives were used in a precisely timed blast 🔹 The 24m-high, 63m-long building came down safely within a 400m exclusion zone 🔹 Asbestos removal, and hazardous material management were all carried out with strict safety protocols to the highest standards Demolition of the boiler will take place later in September and all demolition works are expected to be complete in early 2026. Hydro Tasmania Project Manager Connor Knight confirmed our team did a stellar job. Work like this requires a huge amount of precision and preparation and the team carried it out expertly. Environmental Services Executive General Manager Ben Sullivan is justifiably proud of his incredible team and our partners for making this safe, successful, and spectacular. This is more than a demolition — it’s the first step in repurposing an iconic site for a clean energy future. #Demolition #EngineeringExcellence #HydroTasmania #McMahonServices #BellBay #GreenEnergy

  • Celebrating the Completion of Upper Yorke Road - Kulpara to Arthurton 🚧   Safety upgrades have been completed on Upper Yorke Road between Kulpara and Arthurton, making travel safer for all road users.   Carrying out the works on behalf of the Department for Infrastructure and Transport, McMahon Services completed the 35km road reconstruction in 6 months, finishing just before Easter.   Employing 2 full time civil crews we were able to profile, remove, and dispose of more than 180,000t of spoil. We imported more than 300,000t of material and sealed more than 300,000m2 from a blending plant on-site.  We celebrated completion with a BBQ at Sunny Hill Distillery in Arthurton, bringing together residents, project partners, and stakeholders. This project was truly a team effort, and we’re grateful for everyone who contributed to its success, including the Department, our dedicated crews, local suppliers, and the incredible community support.   This upgrade was jointly funded by the Australian and South Australian governments as part of the $168 million Road Safety Program. The upgrade delivers improvements to freight movements, supports regional economic growth and improves safety for all road users. Thank you to Department for Infrastructure and Transport for continuing to building better infrastructure and stronger communities!   #Infrastructure #McMahonServices #Community #UpperYorkeRoad #ConstructionSuccess #ProjectCompletion #BuildingBetterRoads #SAConstruction

  • On Sunday 25, McMahon Services participated in the Camp Quality Convoy, and what an unforgettable day it was. • In true McMahon Services fashion, our team came together to support the Cancer Council Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea—a powerful reminder of what can happen when people unite for a common cause. With sizzling bacon and eggs on the grill, and an irresistible spread of sweet delights baked and shared from the heart, our morning tea was more than just a break from the tools—it was a moment to connect, reflect, and support Australians impacted by cancer.     Across every worksite, we are proud of the way our people show up—not only to deliver certainty for our customers, but to lift each other up and support the wider community.  A huge thank you to everyone who donated, cooked, served and showed up. The $1,462.00 raised will help fund vital cancer research, prevention and support services. #BiggestMorningTea #CancerCouncil

  • 𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗙𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗿𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗦𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵 𝗔𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗮 Diversity in Engineering is important to us at McMahon Services and Intract Australia, and we believe our engineers should reflect the diversity in our communities. With the growing number of current and upcoming projects across South Australia, we recognise the increasing demand for skilled engineers. That's why supporting initiatives like SkillSmart and the Engineering Futures program is vital to ensuring we have the right talent to meet these challenges. Engineering Futures, a SkillSmart program led by the SA Department of State Development, is helping skilled engineers find opportunities across South Australia, including regional areas. We were pleased to partner with our customers to host a group of internationally skilled engineers at two of our current regional projects in Ardrossan and Davenport SA. With the Rex Minerals Ltd team at the Hillside Mine site near Ardrossan, we were able to showcase our work on the Hillside Highway Diversion Project and the current and future works for the mine development. The morning was filled with engaging presentations from both Rex Minerals and McMahon Services. Anthony Howie and Lachlan Cole from Rex Minerals shared valuable insights into the mine’s development and the exciting opportunities ahead. Meanwhile, McMahon Services discussed the critical works we’re undertaking to ensure the project’s success. We were also fortunate to hear from our very own Meenal S. and Alireza S. who shared their inspiring journeys of earning their first qualifications overseas and navigating the pathway to securing engineering roles in South Australia. Their stories underscored the importance of resilience and the support available to engineers in the region. It was great to see Rex Minerals and McMahon Services collaborating to deliver outstanding project outcomes, not only for the community but also for the workforce, fostering growth and creating opportunities across both teams. After the visit to Ardrossan, the group travelled to Port Augusta, where they were treated to another insightful presentation from James Wilson and one of our Intract project teams. They provided an in-depth look at the exciting developments and future opportunities in the Far North of South Australia. We’re looking forward to continuing our support for local communities and internationally skilled professionals as we work together to build a brighter future for South Australia. With offices in Port Pirie, Whyalla, Pt Lincoln, Woomera and Roxby Downs, working on Buildings, Civil and Infrastructure and Defence projects, we are always looking for good people to work with us. #EngineeringFutures #RexMinerals #MSA #Intract #CommunitySupport #EngineeringOpportunities #SouthAustralia #EyrePeninsula #FarNorth #DiversityInEngineering

  • We’re excited to announce that Stage 1 of the Yorke Highway realignment near Ardrossan is now complete, with the newly realigned section open to traffic just before Easter 2025. This improvement is a key part of the ongoing upgrades tied to the Rex Minerals Hillside Project, which will enhance site access, safety, and local traffic flow.    As we move on to the next stage of this important project, we’d like to thank Rex Minerals Ltd for the opportunity to be involved in these vital infrastructure upgrades. We look forward to continuing our work in improving the connectivity and safety of the Yorke Peninsula. #DeliveringCertainty #CivilandInfrastructure #YorkePeninsula
