About us
We're a biotech innovator on a mission to repair our planet through infinite recycling. We take end-of-life plastics and textiles and recycle them, infinitely to create a truly circular loop for packaging, clothing, airbags and everything in between. It’s recycling that’s good for the planet. Samsara Eco launched in 2021 in partnership with the Australian National University (ANU), and with backing from Main Sequence and the Woolworths Group. We have raised over AUD $150M from our growing supporters including Temasek, Breakthrough VIC, DCVC, CEFC, lululemon, Hitachi Ventures, Titanium Ventures and Wollemi. In 2024, we created apparel with lululemon, including the world’s first enzymatically recycled nylon 6,6 product. Our growing team of 80+ are spread across APAC and North America. We’re teaming up with the great folks over at the European Outdoor Group (EOG) to launch the Nylon Materials Collective – a Collective designed specifically for outdoor brands looking to go circular. Outdoor brands naturally respect the environment and favour high-performance materials to craft products durable enough to weather the harshest of outdoor conditions – everything we exist for. That’s why we’re forming this Collective. By leaning into collective demand, brands will have access to our virgin-identical recycled nylon through pooled volumes, and the option to collaborate with a network of supply chain partners, making it easier for outdoor brands of all sizes to make the switch to circular materials. Our endgame is to make circularity the only way forward. By removing barriers that can slow adoption, the new Collective can bring us all another step closer to making circular materials the preferred materials for all. What does it really take to scale circular materials? Our very own Sarah Cook will take the virtual stage alongside bright sparks Sophie Ridler (Textile Exchange), Robyn Kimber (Consultant, former Lululemon) and Adele Gingell (Finisterre) next week to tackle this very question as part of World Textile Information Network (WTiN)’s Textile & Apparel Circularity Week. Making circular materials the preferred material of choice is one important step in disrupting the linear take-make-waste economy. Each panelist brings a different point of view from across the value chain setting the stage for a deep and meaningful chat. Join virtually: Monday, 17 November 2pm UTC (sorry Aussie friends, it’s a late one but it will be available on demand via WTiN) Check the comments for a link to register and to view the entire agenda. #WTiNInnovate #TextileAndApparelCircularityWeek

Samsara Eco reposted this
🌍 Discussion around circular economy legislation is essential. Transitioning from a linear to a circular supply chain is complex — it demands structural change, process change, and sustained investment across every stage of the value chain. While there is often hesitancy towards legislation, we should not underestimate its critical role in enabling this transition. Effective policy provides the direction, consistency, and collaboration needed to build a sustainable textile-to-textile circular economy — and helps avoid the inefficiencies that arise when organisations act in isolation. A truly circular economy isn’t just a sustainability goal — it’s a strategic imperative for improving competitiveness, and in the case of the EU Circular Economy Act (CEA) - the EU's competitiveness. Samsara Eco is a proud contributor to the T2T Alliance and to this T2T Alliance CEA Position Paper. This paper is just one step in a much broader conversation. As an alliance of leading Textile-to-Textile recyclers we’re committed to ongoing collaboration — with each other, the European Commission, and the wider textile value chain. Let's be honest, alignment across all stakeholders will not be easy, but I encourage all to embrace the mindset of ‘progress over perfection’ to create policy foundations that will drive innovation, investment and collaboration to deliver scalable circularity in the textile industry. #CircularEconomy #TextileRecycling #Sustainability #EU #T2TAlliance #SamsaraEco
♻️ The EU’s upcoming Circular Economy Act is a key lever to help the textile-to-textile recycling industry scale and to accelerate the transformation of Europe’s textile sector into a truly circular one. Today, the T2T Alliance is proud to release its second Position Paper, focusing on how the Circular Economy Act can unlock the full potential of textile recycling and create a more sustainable, resilient textile value chain across Europe and globally. Our key recommendations to policymakers are clear: 1️⃣ Harmonise existing legislation to enable better access to feedstock across Europe by implementing functional End-of-Waste Criteria, addressing key barriers to textile recycling, and streamlining EPR funding allocation rules. 2️⃣ Boost the uptake of secondary materials to stabilise the textile recycling industry by implementing recycled content threshold requirements in public and private sectors. 3️⃣ Develop fiscal tools that support actors across the textile recycling value chain, by addressing the cost gap between virgin and secondary material. Together, these measures will create the right market conditions for a circular textile ecosystem to strive. Let’s turn policy ambition into action and drive the circular economy forward. 🌍 #CircularEconomy #TextileRecycling #T2TAlliance #CircularTextiles

Practical, action-focused measures that make textile circularity the easy and obvious choice is how we’ll make a circular economy a reality. The T2T Alliance’s latest Position Paper outlines what we want to see included as part of the EU’s Circular Economy Act to do just that. Lots of sound insights here that are relevant for any policy leaders looking to support textile recycling and a circular future.

We’ll continue to say it over and over again: circularity is the only way forward. Because by doing so, we can eliminate waste and build lasting, thriving industries that also respect the planet and its resources. Thank you, Temasek, for spotlighting the possibilities of a circular fashion future and for sharing our story. By working together and committing to this future, we can make sure the linear take-make-waste model stays out of fashion for good. Check out the link to the full Generation NetZero docuseries in the comments below. There's a bunch of inspiring stories there to leave you glowing with optimism.
Fast fashion’s footprint needs a rethink. In the fourth season of our Generation NetZero series, we discover how one of our investees in the climate tech space Samsara Eco is using enzyme-powered recycling to transform textile waste into virgin-quality materials. With less than 1% of clothing truly recycled, Samsara is doing its part to scale real circularity in fashion—from lab to industry. Weixiang W., Director, ESG Investment Management, Temasek sheds light on why textile waste is one of the key areas in Temasek’s Nature Roadmap, and how we are accelerating scalable solutions for sustainable materials. Generation NetZero is a docuseries exploring how we can be the generation to solve the ongoing climate crisis. #GenerationNetZero #SustainabilityTemasek #ClimateForwardTemasek #CircularFashion #ClimateTech #Sustainability #NetZero #NatureRoadmap #FashionInnovation #FastFashion

We’re bouncing off a week of events with a load of optimism for the future of circular fashion. At Textile Exchange, it was clear – the landscape is shifting. Mindsets are moving, and momentum is building. Textile recycling and next-gen materials are no longer a nice-to-have but core to many brands’ growth strategy, with interest in innovation moving to adoption – exactly the shift needed to scale tech for a better textile industry and a healthier planet. Over at SXSW Sydney and Fashion for Good Innovation Fest, the message was just as clear – brands, tech and regulation working hand-in-hand is the only way we'll make circularity a reality. Thank you to everyone who stopped by our booth, showed curiosity in our work, and shared ideas along the way 💫
