AUSLARC was officially launched with media and stakeholders in Canberra, marking the national rollout of fully funded LARC training and travel support. We were proud to announce this initiative alongside Tracey Hall (CEO, SHFPACT), Alicia Payne (Federal Labor Member for Canberra), Dr Clara Tuck Meng Soo (RACGP), Dr Martina Mende (Senior Medical Officer, SHFPACT), Daile Kelleher (CEO, SRHA), and the Hon Rebecca White MP (Assistant Minister for Women, Indigenous Health, Health and Aged Care). Most people with a sexually transmitted infection (STI) won’t have any symptoms and can unknowingly pass it on. The upside? All STIs are treatable. STIs are on the rise across Australia. In the last 10 years alone, syphilis cases have tripled, and gonorrhoea cases have doubled. Up to 80% of people with an STI show no symptoms, but that doesn’t mean the infection isn’t active or contagious. It’s simple: Get tested. Get treated. Testing is quick, private, and often doesn’t even require seeing a doctor. Don’t wait for symptoms. If you’re sexually active, make testing part of your health routine. Sexual and Reproductive Health Australia reposted this
I’d strongly recommend this position to any young person passionate about furthering sexual and reproductive health in Australia. This is a great opportunity to provide an important youth perspective to the FPAA board and directly contribute to the work of Australia’s peak body organisation for sexual and reproductive health. I’m happy to be contacted by anyone considering applying for this role. I’ve had a great time this year at FPAA and would highly recommend applying even if you don’t have prior board director experience.

Connor Luke Allen, MD & FPAA Youth Director, presented at World Association for Sexual Health Congress on the barriers transgender and gender diverse people face in accessing sexual and reproductive health (SRH) care. His systemic review revealed deep structural and individual challenges driving health inequities for this community. The evidence is clear: meaningful change is needed at both system and individual levels. We’re proud to have Connor advocating for a more inclusive, equitable future in SRH. 🌈 #TransHealthMatters #SexualHealthForAll #WASCongress2025
