As per my previous post about redundancies on the rise in Australia (12% increase in IT roles), many teams are now facing the hidden impact: WORKLOAD REDISTRIBUTION When roles are made redundant, companies often spread tasks across remaining staff rather than immediately replacing them. This approach has pros and cons: Pros: - Keeps projects moving without the delay of hiring - Can provide opportunities for employees to learn new skills - Encourages team collaboration and flexibility Cons: - Can lead to burnout and decreased job satisfaction, increasing the risk of losing key team members - Higher risk of mistakes under pressure - May slow career progression if people are stretched too thin Some companies also replace roles with contractors, but for many teams, absorbing extra work is the bigger challenge.
