My client is a leading organization in the shopper insights and research space, helping retailers and suppliers collaborate to drive category growth. They are seeking a dynamic and results-driven Business Development Manager to accelerate business growth by securing incremental revenue across new clients, channels, and business streams.
This role offers the opportunity to work closely with senior leadership teams across major manufacturers and retailers in Australia and New Zealand. Reporting to the Chief Commercial Officer, you will be part of a small, agile team where you can influence business direction and collaborate across Marketing, Customer Success, and Operations.
Key Responsibilities
Business Development: Identify and secure new business opportunities, focusing on shopper insights programs and reports while exploring new channels and growth streams.
Client Engagement: Build strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels, including C-suite executives, using data-driven insights to engage and build trust.
Sales Leadership: Work with senior leadership to shape business development strategies aligned with commercial goals. Develop innovative ideas, processes, and strategies to drive growth.
Pipeline & Forecasting: Maintain a robust pipeline, ensuring accurate forecasting and efficient management to meet revenue targets.
Negotiation & Closing: Lead negotiations and close deals that deliver strong commercial outcomes. Oversee the contract process from initial engagement to completion.
Collaboration & Team Motivation: Inspire and motivate the team, fostering cross-functional collaboration and enthusiasm for growth.
Travel: Approximately every 8 weeks, travel to New Zealand and Melbourne for 2–3 days to meet clients and drive regional growth.
Skills & Experience
Proven Business Development Experience: Minimum 5 years in business development with a strong track record in long sales cycles and revenue growth. Experience in FMCG, Pharma, retail, or agency environments preferred.
Expertise in Shopper Insights/Research: Ability to leverage and interpret research data to create actionable solutions.
Confident Communicator: Skilled in engaging senior stakeholders, with strong negotiation and relationship-building abilities.
Results-Oriented: Demonstrated success in meeting and exceeding sales targets.
Passion for Data & Solutions: Strong interest in data-driven strategies and shopper insights.
