Jones Day is a global power house with 40 offices and more than 2,400 lawyers globally. As one of the largest law firms in the world, we hold approximately half of the Fortune 500, Fortune Global 500, and FTGlobal 500 as clients. In Australia we are committed to further growth in the local market across our four offices located in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and Perth.
The role
A new opportunity exists for a real estate lawyer with 3 - 5 years’ experience to join our Brisbane office. Working directly with our specialist real estate Of Counsel, Leighton Smith, you will play an integral role in supporting the growth of the Australian real estate practice. You will also work closely with our corporate partners around Australia and globally, contributing to significant M&A and energy matters and gaining exposure to high-profile transactions.
Your responsibilities will include
Supporting real estate matters and providing strategic and commercial advice as part of large-scale corporate M&A and energy transactions
Drafting, reviewing, negotiating and finalising transaction documents across a broad range of matters
Conducting legal due diligence
Undertaking legal research and drafting
Analysing and summarising documents and preparing memos
About you
You will bring strong corporate property and capital transactions expertise, ideally on a national level, including experience providing real estate support to M&A, mining and energy practices. You will also have a strong academic record, solid drafting skills, excellent attention to detail and the ability to support multiple teams with competing priorities.
You will be someone whose style aligns with our high-performing, supportive and team-based culture. You enjoy working in a smaller team where you can have real impact and ownership of matters while proactively creating opportunities. Working directly with the Of Counsel, you will gain access to high-quality work not typically available to someone at the 3 - 5 year level in a larger team.
What we offer
