Meet Danlyn L. Brennan, an environmental engineer based in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. Danlyn is a technical lead for our climate science practice and a key contributor to our coastal services group. Her career in water resources allows her to combine a lifelong love of nature’s beauty and abundance with the rigorous science that protects it. She’s been involved with projects in the Pacific Northwest and across coastal wetlands in Florida, Louisiana and Texas. “What fascinates me the most is how plants transport water, carbon and other molecules through their systems and how that impacts larger global cycles,” says Danlyn. “Conserving these ecosystems is critical, but they’re also fascinating to study because of their complexity.” Turn your passions into your career and consider joining our team at HDR. In an effort to increase water reliability in San Diego County, the new $200 million Desalination Plant Intake and Discharge Facility is a milestone in sustainable water infrastructure. As part of a multidecade strategy to diversify the region’s water supply, the facility strengthens climate resilience and minimizes vulnerability to drought. Completed on budget and on schedule, it reinforces the plant’s reputation as one of the nation’s most environmentally sensitive desalination facilities. Our engineers led the design and worked in partnership with the Kiewit-Shea Joint Venture to deliver the facility. Once defined by remote campuses, today’s research environments are moving into the heart of cities, where talent, academia and industry converge. The groundbreaking of H-2 at the HELIX NJ is a momentous step toward this evolution of science spaces. As a built-to-suit design for Nokia Bell Labs Research & Development Headquarters, the new 370,000 SF lab tower meets the moment as a flexible, light-filled canvas for discovery with a dynamic façade, open floorplates and outdoor spaces that connect science with community. The design aims to carry forward Nokia Bell Labs century-long legacy of innovation and marks the beginning of their next 100-year story. H-2 is designed in partnership with SJP Properties and in collaboration with Jaros, Baum & Bolles, Thornton Tomasetti, and Langan Engineering & Environmental Services with support from the New Brunswick Development Corporation.
