Big news for Plain Language in Canada! On International Plain Language Day, we’re thrilled to announce the release of the first National Standard of Canada on plain language! This new standard: • defines plain language and when to use it • describes barriers people face when communication is unclear • sets out clear steps to remove and prevent those barriers Plain language is more than good writing. It ensures everyone can find, understand and use information. The standard is free, accessible, and available in both official languages, and accompanied by a summary in sign languages.
