  • Ou VC Way!!!! #SustainableLegacy

Our VC Way value of Sustainable Legacy means taking responsibility for today while building a better tomorrow, and this extends beyond our day-to-day business operations. It’s about investing in people, communities, and the future, so that what we build today continues to create opportunities moving forward. For 28 years, the VCNA Scholarship Award has embodied this value, investing in the education of our employees’ children and empowering them to pursue their dreams that will shape future generations.  Awarded annually every August, last year, we offered nine scholarships of $2,000 and three scholarships of $1,000 to students across Canada and the US. The Scholarship supports academic journeys in universities, community colleges, and technical schools. Applicants must be up to 25 years of age and either graduating high school, already enrolled in higher education, or preparing to pursue a degree, diploma, or technical certificate.  The selection is based on academic performance, leadership, community involvement, and aspirations. One of the most rewarding aspects of this scholarship program is the different paths applicants choose – from engineering and nursing to art, baking, computer science, and beyond. Every story reminds us why this program matters: investing in young people creates a ripple effect that extends far beyond today. Their successes become a part of our shared legacy.   As one of our 2024 scholarship recipients, Evelyn McCarthy, shared: "The VCNA Scholarship played a key role in launching my university journey at Wilfrid Laurier University’s Bachelor of Business Administration program. It provided me with greater financial freedom, allowing me to focus more on my academics and personal growth rather than financial concerns. Thanks to this support, I was able to fully engage in my studies and enjoy my first year. I am deeply grateful to have been selected as a recipient of this scholarship." Stories like Evelyn’s demonstrate what sustainable legacy looks like in action. By supporting the well-being and success of our employees’ families, we strengthen communities, open doors for future leaders, and create lasting results – one student at a time.  Our scholarship program is one of the many ways we invest in the long-term prosperity of the people who help shape our company every day. By taking responsibility for tomorrow, we are helping the next generation succeed today. This is our VC Way! #VotorantimCimentos #VCNA #SustainableLegacy #LastingResults #OurVCWay #Scholarships #HighEd #VCNAscholarship #VCNAlegacy

  • Amazing work by Prairie Materials!!! #StRegisChicago

How do you deal with Chicago’s famous winds when you are building a skyscraper? For the The St. Regis Chicago, you create something no other skyscraper has – a wind-tunnel on the 83rd floor. This unique landmark with its one-of-a-kind aerodynamic engineering feature was made possible with Prairie Materials. But Chicago’s St Regis Tower is more than a stunning feat of engineering and architecture - it is a major contributor to the redevelopment of the Lakeshore East neighborhood. Prairie Materials proudly supplied the concrete that helped build this innovative 101-story landmark that attracts residents, visitors, and investors from all over the country and the world.  Now the third tallest skyscraper in Chicago and the tallest building in the world designed by a woman, Jeanne Gang, St Regis stands at 1,198 feet above the riverfront, pushing boundaries in both design and construction. It isn’t an ordinary tower and it couldn’t be built with ordinary concrete. To meet St Regis’ ambitious architectural demands, Prairie supplied more than 112,000 cubic yards of concrete overall, including: 👉 63,000 cubic yards of high-strength and modulus-of-elasticity mixes for critical load-bearing elements, ensuring the building remains stable under extreme forces.  👉 Precise performance mixes that supported unique features of St Regis, including the wind-tunnel – the open 83rd story that channels wind to reduce sway of the construction. Our concrete mixes allowed St Regis to handle concentrated forces of wind around the edges of the wind-tunnel opening and maintain rigidity while the building redirects the wind instead of resisting it. A true architectural marvel!    Prairie Materials is honored to have supplied the concrete mixes that made St Regis possible. Chicago is the birthplace of the skyscraper, so for a building to stand out in that city, it has to be exceptional. The St Regis Tower does exactly that: it is visually, structurally, and culturally iconic. We are proud to be a part of a development that adds new life to Chicago’s skyline and sets a new standard for architectural excellence. This is Our VC Way! #VotorantimCimentos #VCNA #PrairieMaterials #StRegisTower #StRegisChicago #Chicago #ChicagoSkyline #CustomerFocus #LastingResults #VCNAlegacy #BuiltwithVCNA #OurVCWay

  • So proud of our team! Community is what matters! #OurVCWay

At VCNA, Open Dialogue means being a part of the communities where we live and work. We are not just temporary plants, worksites, or offices in our neighbourhoods, we are fixtures that are woven into them. This is why open, honest conversations with our local partners are central to Our VC Way. Our support, sponsorships, donations, and local initiatives start with a conversation. We listen to what matters to our neighbours, employees, and partners, and we respond with actions that address those needs. That’s why our partnerships are so diverse – they reflect the diversity of our people, their interests, their experiences, and the causes they care about. Across our operations, so far in 2025, 497 VCNA team members volunteered 4,844.5 hours of their time to over 32 causes that matter to them and their communities – participating in local fundraisers like the Breast Cancer Walk in Chicago and Racing for Health Gala in Bowmanville, ON, VCNA Spring and Fall clean-ups in Toronto and Chicago, and other community events to support organizations like the United Way in Charlevoix, Michigan, and the Daily Bread Food Bank in Toronto. That spirit of connection is especially clear when we see the impact our team makes, as shared by our colleague at the Daily Bread Food Bank, Skye Butterfield: “As a valued member of the Daily Bread community, we want to thank Votorantim Cimentos for your dedication to our mission. Your support is helping families who are currently struggling to put food on the table and with the need continuing to rise, your voice and partnership are more important than ever. Since July 2024, your organization has participated in 10 food sorting opportunities with Daily Bread Food Bank amounting to an impressive 513 volunteer hours and 25,676 lbs of food! Thanks to Votorantim Cimentos, we have been able to distribute nearly 35,000 meals to community members in need. With your support, we will continue our fight to end hunger in the city of Toronto.” Open dialogue is also what drives our involvement with organizations like Habitat for Humanity. As we hear about the strains of housing shortages and the need for affordable housing across the United States and Canada, we show up. Not just as sponsors, but as partners and volunteers, helping families build the foundations they need to thrive. Our work building houses with Habitat for Humanity in Chicago, Detroit, Northumberland, Kitchener and other communities we call home demonstrates that for us, open dialogue isn’t just about talk - it’s about showing up, working side by side with our neighbours, and building the future together. Open dialogue is what keeps us grounded in the real needs of the communities where we operate. When we stay connected, listen, and act, we create #LastingResults. This is Our VC Way! #VotorantimCimentos #VCNA #OurVCWay #OpenDialogue #CommUNITYbuilders #CommunityImpact #GivingBack #MakingaDifference #WeShowUp #CompanyCulture

  • Amazing work by CBM (Canada Building Materials) team! You make us proud! 💪 #GordieHoweInternationalBridge

The Gordie Howe International Bridge is one of the most ambitious infrastructure projects in North America and a testament to our people at CBM (Canada Building Materials) who helped bring this amazing project to life. From sales and operations to plant and truck maintenance, drivers, technical services, credit and legal – we could not have done it without each and every one of you. For the last six years, our teams have been deeply dedicated to planning, problem-solving, and executing with precision every step of this engineering marvel. CBM supplied specialized, high-performance concrete that built the bridge’s Canadian tower, foundation, legs, and pylon head - that’s over 92,000 m³. Our materials form the backbone of the Gordie Howe International Bridge – the longest cable-stayed bridge in North America, with two 220-metre towers (US and Canada), 2.5 km length, and 125-year design life. The successful execution of the project reflects the strength and capabilities of CBM: the expertise to take on such a complex engineering challenge, the innovation to meet demanding technical requirements, and the resilience to keep delivering high-quality materials and services under pressure.  And our work has not gone unnoticed! We are proud this project has won in the Structural Engineering category for the 2025 Ontario Concrete Awards and was named Project of the Year by the American Concrete Institute (ACI) Ontario Chapter! This recognition means that the project will now advance to the ACI International Excellence in Concrete Construction Awards – a huge milestone for all of us!  #VotorantimCimentos #VCNA #CBM #CanadaBuildingMaterials #OntarioConcreteAwards #AmericanConcreteInstitute #GordieHoweInternationalBridge #Detroit #Windsor #BuiltwithVCNA #VCNAlegacy

  • Making wellness even more accessible with VCNA’s Wellness Clinics 💪 Safety & Health is a core value of Our VC Way and something we put into action every day. Yesterday, we took another meaningful step in living this value by hosting another Wellness Clinic at our head office at 55 Industrial Street in Toronto, ensuring all our employees have the opportunity to participate.  All Clinics include: 👉 Biometric screenings - BMI blood pressure, glucose levels, and pulse. 👉 Comprehensive wellness assessments like weight and height. 👉 Flu vaccinations. This is the 12th mobile Wellness Clinic we have hosted in 2025 across all our operations. This year alone, the clinics served 455 of our employees, an 11.8% increase from 2024! Yesterday, the Wellness Clinic welcomed 13 people for biometric scans, administered flu shots to seven of our colleagues, and provided information that can help our team make better wellness decisions. Our Wellness Clinics are one of the many ways we champion our value of Safety & Health. They are part of a comprehensive wellness plan that is developed and executed by our Health and Wellness team. The clinics are often hosted at larger events like Wellness Days and Safety Day Conferences, where our employees get access to fun and informative tools that can help them make better choices about their health, including smoothie bars, nutrition kiosks, and mental health EAP resources. • 👏 👏 👏 Another great landmark from CBM (Canada Building Materials)! Way to go, team! #OurVCWay

If you didn’t think it was possible to make the CN Tower even more iconic – you were wrong! When Ripley's Aquarium of Canada opened its doors at the base of the CN Tower in 2013, it added life, colour, and a sense of adventure to an already booming Toronto landmark.  CBM (Canada Building Materials) is proud to have supplied 25,000 m³ of concrete to this remarkable project – the foundation supporting millions of litres of water, tens of thousands of aquatic species, and millions of memories made every year. These kinds of projects are much more than just structures. The Aquarium construction created over 600 jobs and generated more than $50 million in immediate economic activity, including $35 million in labour income. Today, it continues to contribute over $35 million annually to Toronto’s GDP, while supporting over 300 permanent jobs in tourism, education, and hospitality.  Since opening, more than 10 million visitors have passed through its doors – families, tourists, and students! That’s right, students! The aquarium runs school programs, field trips, and virtual learning sessions aligned with the Ontario curriculum and offers educational experiences designed to inspire interest in science and environmental stewardship. These types of programs reinforce that the Aquarium is not just a tourist attraction, but an educational and sustainability hub connecting young people from all over Canada with the natural world. At CBM, we take pride in knowing that our concrete does not just build structures - it builds experiences, opportunities, and the heartbeat of a thriving Toronto. #VotorantimCimentos #VCNA #CBM #CanadaBuildingMaterials #RipleysAquarium #BuiltwithVCNA #VCNAlegacy #Toronto #TorontoSkyline #SustainableLegacy #LastingResults #OurVCWay
