At fortyfour, we're boosting plant growth with CO2 that we capture directly from the air, creating a pathway toward truly sustainable greenhouse farming. I'm thrilled to announce that we have been selected as one of 50 teams to participate in the 2025 EIT Food Seedbed Incubator. Last week, we kicked off in the beautiful city of Bilbao (see photos). This opportunity will allow us to validate our technology in real-world greenhouse environments and collaborate directly with growers across Europe to refine our solution. Our mission is to eliminate agriculture's dependence on fossil-derived CO2 while providing farmers with a reliable, cost-effective and on-site solution for carbon enrichment that enhances crop yields and quality. Thanks to everyone who has supported our journey and engaged in meaningful conversations to bring us to this point (Gebert Rüf Stiftung & Venture Kick, Talent Kick). We're excited to see what this next phase brings. #EITFood #DirectAirCapture #CarbonCapture #GreenhouseAgriculture #SustainableFarming #Climatetech #Agtech #FoodSecurity
Less than 24 hours ago, we pitched in the second round of the >>venture>> Startup Competition. We didn't make it to the final round, but being one of the finalists in our vertical still feels pretty unreal, given the sheer amount of applications. Not gonna lie, there's definitely some disappointment - you know how it is when you get really close and can almost taste it. But in all honesty, it is really impressive what >>venture>> has built over the years - they've managed to draw some of Switzerland's brightest minds and you can really feel that energy during the breaks. Chatting with some of the other founders and hearing what they are working on was really inspiring. Even without taking home a prize, we're walking away with a lot of feedback and connections, and just motivation from being around all that ambition and creativity. Big congrats to everyone who made the final cut today, but we're rooting for all the other startups too, winners or not. We're all just trying to build something meaningful, and days like these remind us we're in pretty good company. Pedro Reina, Mathias Mueller, Henry Willem Müller

What an incredible experience at Start Summit! 🚀 Last week, we attended #StartSummit in St. Gallen. Having an own booth for the first time, we were amazed by all the interest from other founders, investors, and students who stopped by to learn about what we're building. The questions, insights, and feedback we received were great and have already sparked new ideas within our team. It also reinforced why we're so passionate about this journey, it feels meaningful and important to work on something that has the potential to contribute to a brighter future. A huge thanks to everyone who took the time to visit our booth and engage with us and a special thanks to the Kanton St.Gallen for sponsoring our booth and showcasing the entrepreneurial ecosystem here. This was our first event of this kind, but certainly not our last! We're excited to announce that we'll be participating in F&A Next in Wageningen (NL) on May 21 & 22. If you're planning to attend, we'd love to connect!
We're thrilled to announce that we've secured Venture Kick Stage II! 🚀 The journey so far has been incredibly enriching – starting from an exciting technology to discovering its tremendous potential in making greenhouses more sustainable and resilient. Each event and workshop has sharpened our focus and strengthened our conviction. Special thanks to Philipp Winteler for the great feedback during the Kicker's Camp! This milestone not only validates our direction but fuels our determination to push forward. The 40'000 CHF funding will be instrumental in deepening our market understanding and deploying first pilots. We're more excited than ever to bring our vision to life and make a real impact in sustainable agriculture. Grateful to the Venture Kick team, our mentors, and everyone who has supported us on this journey. The best is yet to come! 🌱 Henry Willem Müller | Pedro Reina | Mathias Mueller

☀️ Plants can't thrive on sunlight and water alone, they also need CO2 to perform photosynthesis. What most people don't realize about greenhouse farming is that CO2 levels can drop so low that plants essentially start "gasping for air." This forces greenhouse operators to either burn natural gas or truck in liquid CO2 to maintain healthy growth rates. We think it's time to put an end to this fossil-fuel dependency. fortyfour captures CO2 directly from the air to feed greenhouse plants: ➡️ On-site Generation: Our system produces CO2 right at the greenhouse using only air and renewable electricity. ➡️ Reducing Emissions: We use CO2 that's already in the atmosphere instead of releasing more of it. While CO2 enrichment is essential for productivity, traditional methods come with a hefty carbon footprint. By making this process local and sustainable, we're enhancing food security while reducing emissions. Stay tuned as we scale this technology to revolutionize greenhouse farming. The future is taking root today! 🌱
As 2024 comes to an end, we're reflecting on our incredible 6-month journey exploring Direct Air Capture for Greenhouses 🌱 ↩️ Looking back, we are amazed at what we have achieved since June. From meeting each other for the first time at Talent Kick to securing grants from Gebert Rüf Stiftung's First Ventures and Venture Kick, this startup has flourished beyond our expectations! We're deeply grateful to the remarkable people in the Greenhouse and AgriTech industry who opened their doors and shared their knowledge so generously. 🏆 In just a few months, we've grown into a tight-knit team that understands each other's quirks, strengths, and values - all united by our passion to drive sustainable change through technology. ⚙️ The technical development is progressing remarkably well - we're thrilled to have a larger prototype up and running in the lab for testing. 2025 looks promising - we've got some exciting developments. 🎉 To everyone who's supported us on this adventure, including our mentor Till Quack and Talent Kick: thank you. Your encouragement and guidance have been invaluable. Finally, special shoutout to Pedro for his outstanding pitch at the Closing Event of the Entrepreneurial Talents program of the University of St.Gallen! Wishing you all joyful holidays and an inspiring start to 2025! Stay tuned for more updates 🥳 Henry Willem Müller | Mathias Mueller | Pedro Reina #CarbonCapture #Sustainability #Innovation #Greenhouses
