Over the past month, the Eye Care for Kids program of the Houston Eye Associates Foundation has been out in the community, helping families prepare for a healthy and successful school year.

Our Program Coordinator, Sonji Mims, provided vision screenings and shared application information at two major outreach events:

• PlazAmericas Back-to-School Event – With over 5,000 backpacks distributed, this event helped families gear up for the new school year. Sonji connected with dozens of families to ensure children in need could access eye care services.
• Prosperity Prep Academy Community Day – Located north of Beltway 8 and I-45, this event gave us another valuable opportunity to reach youth and families with screenings and support.
