Knowledge Nugget: ELTIF 2.0 - What’s the Big Fuss About? 🔎 Last year, the European Union took major steps to make the European Long-Term Investment Fund (#ELTIF) more attractive and accessible. While the ELTIF market in 2023 still lagged behind expectations, the number of fund launches soared in 2024, the year of the amendment. According to KPMG and the official register, as of June 2025, there are 188 ELTIFs – a remarkable increase from fewer than 100 in 2023. The market is poised for further growth in 2025 as asset managers leverage these products to reach new customers and markets. What are the main differences between ELTIF 1.0 and 2.0? 🧐 ELTIF 1.0: Established to promote long-term investments limited to specific asset classes like infrastructure, real estate, and equity or debt instruments in private companies. It primarily targeted institutional and professional investors due to high minimum investment amounts and the illiquid nature of long-term investments. 🧐 ELTIF 2.0: The revised framework addresses the limitations of ELTIF 1.0 and introduces more flexibility to accommodate a broader range of investors and investment strategies. This includes a wider range of eligible assets, simplified investment processes, and lower minimum investment thresholds. Overall, ELTIF 2.0 is designed to make long-term investments more attractive and accessible to both retail and institutional investors, driving sustainable growth and development. This approach aims to strengthen the EU's capital markets and support projects crucial to the EU's long-term competitiveness. Allianz X CEO Dr. Nazim Cetin visited independent wealth manager and multi-family office Kontora in Hamburg this week. Kontora’s managing directors Dr. Patrick S. Maurenbrecher, Stephan Buchwald, and Sybille Arnegger came together with Nazim to continue building our strategic collaboration.  In order to expand its footprint in the European ultra-high-net-worth (UHNW) and institutional sector, AlTi Tiedemann Global this year acquired Kontora, following a strategic investment by Allianz X and Constellation Wealth Capital in AlTi of up to USD 450 million last year.  The recent visit to Hamburg underscored the strategic alignment among all parties and highlighted their shared perspective on the family office market. 🤝

We’re thrilled to congratulate our colleague Giuseppe Gabriele on his promotion to Associate! 🥳 Giuseppe joined Allianz X as an Investment Analyst in 2023, having already been part of the team as an intern. At the beginning of 2025, Giuseppe relocated to our North America office in New York City to support the colleagues onsite in deal sourcing and execution. Giuseppe is highly appreciated by his colleagues not only for his outstanding ability to swiftly dive into and drive new topics, but also for his friendship and authenticity both at and outside work.  Fun Fact: Giuseppe's skills and tactics at the foosball table are a force to be reckoned with.
