Dziuché: Climate Action Rooted in Community In Dziuché, Mexico, climate action is being led by the people who know this land best. Local families and community brigades are restoring forests, caring for wetlands, and protecting over 8,000 hectares of landscape—work that not only captures carbon but strengthens the ecosystems that support their livelihoods. Our role at Iberostar is to support this vision. We are supporting the creation of a carbon capture project directly with the community, ensuring that the benefits stay local. More than 70% of our investment goes directly to the community—supporting jobs, training, materials and the on-the-ground work that makes this impact possible. And this is only the beginning. Through field schools and capacity-building programs, we’re working side-by-side so that within five years the community can enter and manage their own carbon market projects - independently. Estamos felices de presentar un proyecto pionero en Europa en materia de acción climática: el primer acuerdo de colaboración público-privada de carbono azul bajo un estándar público en el continente. Junto con nuestros socios Navantia, S.A., S.M.E, Metro de Málaga, Moeve y Grupo EULEN, y la Consejería de Sostenibilidad y Medio Ambiente de la Junta de Andalucía, hemos formalizado una alianza que permitirá restaurar 155 hectáreas de marismas mareales en el Parque Natural Bahía de Cádiz. La iniciativa, desarrollada en la margen norte del río Guadalete, tiene como objetivo recuperar la funcionalidad natural del ecosistema, favorecer el desarrollo de la vegetación característica de la zona y generar un sumidero de carbono altamente eficiente. Las previsiones estiman una capacidad de absorción superior a las 32.000 toneladas de CO₂, además de contribuir a la recuperación de la biodiversidad y a reforzar la resiliencia del litoral. Durante la firma del convenio, nuestro Blue Foods Global Leader, Federico Cardona Pons, subrayó la importancia de la colaboración entre administraciones y empresas para impulsar soluciones que contribuyan a la descarbonización y a la protección de los ecosistemas costeros. Este proyecto demuestra que la cooperación multisectorial es clave para avanzar en iniciativas que generan beneficios ambientales y comunitarios. Reafirmamos nuestro compromiso con un modelo de turismo responsable que impulse destinos más saludables, resilientes y preparados para el futuro. #TurismoResponsable

El próximo 4 de diciembre, Palma de Mallorca será el punto de encuentro para reflexionar sobre la sostenibilidad como ventaja competitiva. En el marco del evento “Naturaleza positiva: del compromiso a la competitividad empresarial”, organizado por el Pacto Mundial de la ONU España junto con Grupo Iberostar, líderes del sector privado, así como los ámbitos institucional y académico, compartirán ideas y experiencias sobre la integración del capital natural en la estrategia de negocio. El encuentro pondrá el foco en cómo la economía circular, la sostenibilidad marina y las soluciones basadas en la naturaleza pueden impulsar un modelo económico más resiliente y regenerativo, capaz de proteger los ecosistemas y, al mismo tiempo, fortalecer la competitividad. Una ocasión para que los líderes empresariales en Baleares se sumen a esta conversación y exploren cómo avanzar hacia modelos que generen valor a largo plazo.
