Consistency beats intensity! Most professionals don’t struggle with English because they lack ability. They struggle because they try to do too much, too fast… and then stop. Real progress comes from small, repeatable habits. That’s why our Speaking Classes are short. Twenty five minutes. Once or twice a week. Not intense. Just consistent. Now that the second trimester is underway, this is the moment to reset routines and build habits that actually last. If improving your spoken English is one of your goals this year, focus less on “doing more” and more on showing up regularly. That’s how confidence is built. Because Better English means Better Business 🚀 #BusinessEnglish #EnglishForWork #ProfessionalDevelopment #SpeakingConfidence

🧠 Everyone talks about “bad hires.” Nobody talks about how language gaps quietly drain tens of thousands from a company every year. Your team can be talented, smart, and experienced, but if they can’t lead meetings, write clearly to clients, or represent you internationally, your company pays the price. Every. Single. Time. Most “bad hires” aren’t bad. They’re just not equipped for the communication demands of the role. At ULIC Centre we help companies fix that before it becomes an expensive problem. 🎯 Professional English training for teams who need to lead, sell, and collaborate globally. 📍 In company. Tailored. Results driven. #BusinessEnglish #CorporateTraining #ULICCentre #Leadership #CommunicationSkills #ProfessionalGrowth #CambridgeEnglish

Lesson 6: Hiring for Culture, Not Just Skill 15 Years, 15 Lessons 🚀 Reflections from building ULIC Centre Let me start with a question: Would you rather hire someone incredibly skilled who doesn’t fit your culture, or someone less experienced who aligns with your values? There’s no neutral answer…, and that’s the point. After 15 years of building ULIC, here’s a lesson I learned the hard way: A single bad hire can do more damage than a bad month of sales. Early on, I hired based on CVs. Experience. Qualifications. Credentials. All the “right” things. Sometimes it worked. Other times… it didn’t. A technically strong teacher who drains the team. A “superstar” who refuses to follow the method. Someone who’s brilliant with grammar but terrible with people. Those hires don’t just fail. They break the chemistry. That’s when I understood: You don’t protect your culture by accident. You protect it by design. At ULIC, here’s how we hire now: 🟦 Values first 🟦 Character over ego 🟦 Humility over “I already know everything” 🟦 Judgment over blind rule-following 🟦 Team player over lone genius Skills we can teach. Attitude we can shape. But culture? If someone damages it, everything else collapses. And yes… I’ve made hiring mistakes. Every founder has. They’re expensive, stressful, and sometimes painful. But the lesson is simple: A strong culture makes average people better. A bad culture pushes great people out. And hiring is where that culture is defended or destroyed. 📸 Throwback to our team in 2015, right before our Christmas meal. Different faces today, but the same culture. This photo reminds me that the real strength of ULIC has always been the people behind it. Your turn: What’s the biggest hiring mistake you’ve made? Or the best hiring call? Real stories welcome. 😉 #15Years15Lessons #ULICCentre #Leadership #Hiring #CultureFirst #TeamCulture #Entrepreneurship #Education #CambridgePreparation #EnglishTraining

Lesson 5: Why Language Education Still Matters 📚 15 Years, 15 Lessons 🚀 Reflections from building ULIC Centre They say, “English isn’t as important anymore. AI can translate everything.” I couldn’t disagree more. In 15 years of training university students, professionals, and companies, one thing has never changed: the power of confidence that comes from mastering a language. Because when someone stops doubting themselves in English, they start seeing themselves differently. We’ve had people from all walks of life come through our doors: professional athletes chasing scholarships in the US, entrepreneurs on the brink of success, students preparing for their master’s or Erasmus abroad, workers striving for a promotion, teachers taking their skills to the next level… And all of them benefit in a similar way when they finally achieve “language dominance”. It opens a secret door to new cultures, perspectives, and ideas. Things you wouldn’t even start to comprehend otherwise. That’s pure knowledge and wisdom. Not the language itself, but everything it brings along with it. At ULIC, we don’t just teach English. We prepare people to take real steps forward. To pass the exam that opens a career. To speak up in the meeting that once terrified them. To lead, negotiate, and connect without fear. Because mastering English isn’t a privilege. It’s a skill that changes trajectories. It’s what makes Spain more competitive, more international, more unstoppable. After 15 years, I’ve learned this: education only matters when it changes lives outside the classroom. And language, more than any subject, has the power to do exactly that. 📸 Visual: José Abad Alvarez, who took his #Linguaskill exam with us years ago to secure his "Beca ICEX". Thanks to that opportunity, he now lives in Dubai, working for Aertec, a leading international company. Just like his brother Javi, who followed the same path with us. Because in the end, a certificate unlocks doors. But what truly matters is everything that comes with it: the confidence, the opportunities, and the voice to use your talent anywhere in the world. 🌍 What do you think? Does language still matter in a world where technology speaks for us? #15Years15Lessons #ULICCentre #Leadership #Education #PurposeDriven #CambridgePreparation #EnglishTraining #Growth #Confidence #LanguageMatters Cambridge English

Lesson 4: Grow into a Bigger Plant Pot 🌱 15 Years, 15 Lessons 🚀 Reflections from building ULIC Centre A business that doesn’t grow… dies. It’s that simple. But growth isn’t automatic. You have to create space for it, even when it feels risky. When we first opened ULIC Centre, I thought growth meant more students, more teachers, more classrooms. And yes, that was part of it. But over time I learned something deeper: growth also means identity. Because just like a plant, a business can outgrow its pot. At ULIC, every few years we’ve had to “re-pot” ourselves. New classrooms. New systems. Bigger ambitions. You start small, you take root, you survive the early storms. But then there comes a point where the pot that once protected you now holds you back. Staying in the same pot, no matter how safe it feels, eventually strangles your roots. And here’s the truth: the biggest leaps of faith are the ones that define you. Moving into our first academy. Hiring when it felt impossible. And most recently, going through a 6-month rebrand of our brand Strategy. (Coming soon!). Why? Because the ULIC of today isn’t the same as the ULIC of 10 years ago. And the ULIC of tomorrow will need space to grow even further. Of course, these leaps of faith are huge. They’re scary. They make you feel young and stressed all over again. But that’s the point. Growth requires courage. Each time, the stress was real. But each time, the rewards were bigger than we imagined. And sometimes the bravest thing you can do for your business is give it a bigger pot. Looking back, the moments that shaped ULIC the most weren’t the easy wins. They were the uncomfortable leaps. 📸 This photo is me over 10 years ago, in our very first academy. Looking young. And stressed. But also right at the start of something worth growing. What about you? Have you ever felt stuck in a pot that was too small? What helped you take the leap? #15Years15Lessons #ULICCentre #Leadership #Entrepreneurship #BusinessGrowth #Rebranding #RiskTaking #Courage #Education #CambridgePreparation #EnglishTraining
