Photonics is playing an increasingly vital role in revolutionizing cancer pathology, therapy, and surgical procedures by enabling earlier detection, more precise treatment, and real-time guidance. Advanced imaging techniques for the visualization of tumor margins and cellular structures, Raman and IR spectroscopy to identify malignancies without invasive procedures, photodynamic therapy (PDT) or laser-based surgical tools, which allow for highly controlled tumor resection with minimal damage to surrounding healthy tissue, are transforming cancer care by improving outcomes, reducing recovery times, and enabling personalized treatment strategies. Next December 3rd and 4th we will be at Gustave Roussy in Paris to discover the new and emergent photonics technologies in this field, in our EPIC Meeting on Photonics for Cancer Pathology, Therapy and Surgery. We will have really interesting presentations from clinicians about their work with photonics technologies and their actual challenges, including Ingrid Breuskin, Inès Bennani-Zeroual, Angelica Conversano, Lambros TSELIKAS and Nadia Benmoussa-Rebibo from Gustave Roussy, Stefano Giuliani from Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children NHS Foundation Trust or Nicolas Golse from Hôpital Paul-Brousse, covering topics in head & neck, breast, hepatic and pediatric cancers. Their presentations will be combined with the research work developed at Prism Laboratory, with a presentation by their Co-Director Isabelle Fournier, École Polytechnique, with Angelo Pierangelo, CSEM, with Nicolas Cantale, and in in the BIOCELLPHE project, with a presentation by Susmita Sridhar, PhD from Tematys. We will also learn about the latest developments in this field by the companies Flash Pathology, Abbelight, OptoSigma, Lambda-X | Verhaert High-Tech, Cambridge Raman Imaging, NIREOS, Hekat fluidics, Lightera and inno-spec GmbH.
