Because AI is changing everything. For good. At Vivatech yesterday, with Joëlle Barral, we talked about how AI is helping solve this equation. Not by replacing humans, but by making them more human. At Doctolib, we’re already seeing it. Since October, 3 million consultations have been assisted by our AI consultation assistant. That’s 6 to 7 minutes given back to doctors each time. Less fatigue. More empathy. More time for care. This is just the beginning. After visiting HIMSS Europe and reading this week’s Helsingin Sanomat article on AI-driven documentation, I am inspired by the significant potential of generative AI helping solve some of the most pressing challenges in healthcare. AI-enabled documentation is already easing the workload of health and social care professionals yet we’ve only taken the first steps toward its full, system-wide potential. We won Adaptyv's protein design competition in December with an AI-generated antibody variant against EGFR. Only 1 was tested, we had a bit of a "one more thing" moment last week: After in-vitro validation of binding and expression we learned all 12 of our designs would have taken position 1-12 in the competition. Three even achieved sub-nanomolar binding, outperforming our original competition winner. Here's what makes this remarkable: 1) Our (at the time) intern did this in a few clicks on Cradle, beating 130 teams of highly trained computational biologists using state of the art open source models 2) In-silico metrics completely missed these designs - they ranked between 322nd-623rd in computational predictions and were deemed not worthy to be tested. Be careful trusting (structural) computational metrics, you may be selecting out a lot of goodness. 3) The designs were highly diverse, with significant edit distances between variants, showing we thoroughly explored the sequence space. And for those worried about immunogenicity of ML-generated antibodies: These designs maintained or improved humanness scores with no increase in immunogenicity risk compared to the template. This is what Cradle was built for: making biologics engineering a few scientists can do in a garage without any knowledge of GenAI. There's a lot more in our full article (link in comments)!

When the Swedish body scanning startup Neko Health raised $260m at a $1.7bn valuation in January, the valuation sounded quite large for a healthtech with only two clinics. It does however have Daniel Ek (and Hjalmar Nilsonne) as founders. Is Neko another genius move from the Spotify founder and worth every penny or, is it crazy overvalued? Google's Veo 3 turns text into AI-generated video. Healthcare will never look the same. Veo 3 is Google DeepMind’s newest video model. It can generate 1080p, cinematic video, from just a sentence... I tested it yesterday, the fidelity is mind blowing. No editing software, no camera crew. Just words → visual stories. At first glance, it looks like a creative tool for filmmakers and creatives. But take a step back, and it could reshape how we understand health.
