Last week, we brought together senior leaders from the #industrial and #manufacturing sectors in our Singapore office for an exclusive closed-door breakfast session on “𝐒𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐭 𝐀𝐬𝐢𝐚’𝐬 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐮𝐟𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐀𝐝𝐯𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐠𝐞: 𝐔𝐧𝐥𝐨𝐜𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐈𝐧𝐝𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐚’𝐬 𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐜 𝐏𝐨𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧.” In partnership with Mandala Consulting, the discussion explored the macro forces shaping Southeast Asia’s manufacturing landscape; from regional competitiveness and sector outlooks to the evolving talent and leadership demands across the industry. We also took a focused deep dive into Indonesia’s expanding strategic role, as the country accelerates its industrial development and strengthens its position within the region’s #supplychain ecosystem. A special thank you to our speakers from Mandala Consulting, Manggala S., Jagten Singh, Idoan Marciano, and Matthew Yeo, as well as our Page Executive speakers Jon Goldstein and Abdul Azim Abdul Rashid for leading insightful, forward-looking conversations. And thank you to all the senior leaders who joined us. Your perspectives made this an energising and valuable session. #ExecutiveInsights #ManufacturingStrategy #IndustrialLeadership #TalentLeadership #PageExecutive #MichaelPage Olly Riches | Nilay Khandelwal | Imeiniar Chandra | Shangari M.

  • 🌎 COP30 in Belém: What’s at Stake? Today marks the opening of the 30th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP30) in Belém, Brazil, which nearly a decade since the landmark Paris Agreement was adopted at COP21. To help frame what’s at stake, Mandala briefly revisits the key outcomes of COP29 in Baku: 1️⃣ COP29 set a new global climate finance goal of at least USD 1.3 trillion per year by 2035, with developed countries expected to provide at least USD 300 billion annually (a deal that many major developing countries still criticise as underfunded and top-down). 2️⃣ A core framework for carbon trading was agreed under Articles 6.2 and 6.4 of the Paris Agreement, giving more clarity on how countries can trade carbon and on standards for eligible projects, audits, and accounting. 3️⃣ The adaptation and mitigation framework was expanded through the Global Goal on Adaptation package and a Mitigation Work Programme focused on city-level emissions cuts and a future digital platform, even though how these different tracks fit together remains unclear. This year's COP30 is expected to build on the finance and carbon-market frameworks agreed at COP29, and to address the protection of forests and Indigenous peoples. We look forward to the outcomes of COP30, and how they shape the next chapter of climate ambition and implementation. #MandalaInsights #COP29 #COP30

  • The 1,280 Trillion Rupiah Question: Who Will Finance Jakarta's Giant Sea Wall? President Prabowo has officially green-lit the Giant Sea Wall as a National Strategic Project, appointing a new 'Badan Otorita' (August 2025) to manage it. The vision is a 500km, 15-20 year build. The price tag is an estimated 1,280 trillion rupiah. While the President has stated, "We'll rely on our own strength," the project's financing scheme remains under discussion. The slides highlight a clear need to attract private capital. The key question for investors, as noted by INDEF: "What will investors gain? Where will the return on investment come from?" The proposed incentives are telling: - Toll Roads - Solar Power Plants - Land Capture Value This points directly to a massive land reclamation and "liveable seawall" model. A huge challenge, but also a significant, long-term opportunity for infrastructure and sustainable finance. #ProjectFinance #InfrastructureInvestment #PPP #Indonesia #Jakarta #GiantSeaWall #LandReclamation #ESG #InvestmentOpportunity

  • 🍱🇮🇩 Indonesia’s School Meal Program: Between Promise and Pitfalls Indonesia’s free meal initiative has sparked both enthusiasm and controversy, from food poisoning incidents to food waste concerns, and a cost burden nearly double the global average (as a share of GDP). Yet, school meal programs can work, as proven in Brazil and India, where proper planning, nutrition standards, and supply chain governance made them tools for education and equity. If Indonesia intends to follow suit, clear criteria must be met: institutional coordination, nutrition oversight, sustainable budgeting, and local sourcing. Mandala Consulting analyzes how these programs succeed abroad and how Indonesia can adapt global best practices to its own context. #MandalaInsights #OneYearAdministration #NationalPolicy #SchoolMealProgram

  • 🇮🇩 Koperasi Desa Merah Putih: A New Tool for Inclusive Growth? As we approach the first year of President Prabowo’s administration, one of the most notable early initiatives has been the launch of Red and White Village Cooperatives "Koperasi Desa Merah Putih" as a national cooperative program aimed at strengthening community level. Launched on 21 July 2025 under the Coordinating Ministry for Food Affairs, the program introduces a large-scale lending facility designed to empower underserved communities. Mandala has shared this brief overview as part of our ongoing effort to monitor and interpret the evolving policy landscape under the new administration. #MandalaInsight #KoperasiDesaMerahPutih #IndonesiaPolicy #InclusiveGrowth #NationalProgram

  •  🚗⚡ Building the Future of EV Infrastructure With EV sales surging 2.4× from 2023 to 2024, Indonesia is racing to close the infrastructure gap. The government has set a bold goal: achieving a 1:15 SPKLU-to-EV ratio by 2027, with 62,918 public charging stations by 2030 (a 20-fold increase from today’s numbers). In 2025, 5,800 new charging stations will be rolled out, mostly across Java, through public–private partnerships in rest areas, malls, and urban hubs. But bridging Indonesia’s EV chasm requires more than just numbers. The next leap forward will be defined by reliability, accessibility, and user trust. Read our latest short insights offering a snapshot of recent developments in EV Charging infrastructure.
