One whole month of net zero emissions from our sustainable Lidl Maynooth store💚 Last month, Minister for Climate, Environment and Energy Darragh O'Brien TD cut the ribbon on Ireland’s first ever Net Zero Energy supermarket at Lidl Maynooth in Co. Kildare - the first supermarket in the country to produce all of its own energy from renewable sources and have no impact on the climate. This opening marked a major milestone for Irish businesses on the journey to becoming more sustainable and paves the way for a greener future. We were also thrilled to have eco advocate Roz Purcell there to tour the store and discover sustainable features. From living walls to bulk DRS machines, recycled concrete and enough solar panelling to fill 13 tennis courts, every detail has been considered in the sustainable construction and operation of this innovative new store. Check out the video below to find out more about Ireland's first Net Zero Energy supermarket 👇 #LidlIreland #MoretoValue #NetZero #Sustainability #SustainableRetail

We're proud to announce that Lidl Ireland has achieved a 3.8% mean gender pay gap – a significant decrease of 26.9% from the 5.2% gender pay gap reported in 2024 and a reduction of almost half since 2023. Our mean pay gap now sits around two thirds (66%) less than the average pay gap in Ireland of 11.2% as reported by PWC in 2024. Having decreased our mean gap by 46% in just two years, we are committed to tangible actions to eliminate the mean gender pay gap. We're proud to have made significant progress in the progression of female talent into key leadership roles in recent years and to continue investing in industry-leading benefits for employees as well as a suite of inclusive policies, supports and programmes that have real impact on our colleagues' lives and career trajectory. We strongly believe in the positive impact that a zero gender pay gap can have, not only on our own colleagues, but Ireland’s society and economy. With our focus firmly set on reducing our gender pay gap to zero, we are resolute in our ongoing commitment to attracting, developing and retaining a more diverse and inclusive team that is reflective of our customer base. #LidlIreland #MoretoValue #GenderPayGap

Lidl Ireland has been named the Most Sustainable Supermarket and 6th Most Sustainable Organisation overall in the Ireland RepTrak® Sustainability Index 2025 study of 100 prominent organisations. 🎉 The ranking, published today by The Reputations Agency, sees us retain our position as #1 retailer and underscores our commitment to tangible action to fight climate change, protect the environment and build a better social and economic future for the next generation. The Index, now in its fourteenth year, tracks the perceptions of more than 5,000 members of the informed public on the sustainability measures undertaken by 100 prominent organisations in Ireland. As Ireland’s leading supermarket discount retailer, we have a responsibility to lead the charge for sustainability and deliver on national climate commitments whilst enhancing local communities to futureproof our planet for the next generation. Over the last twelve months, we’ve continued to deliver on our Sustainability Strategy, taking tangible action against climate change. This week, we are incredibly proud to launch our biggest annual festive fundraising campaign, Lidl's Trolley Dash, across our growing network of over 189 stores in Ireland. 🛒 🏃 The Trolley Dash offers a unique and fun way for our customers to get involved and make a genuine impact. By simply purchasing a ticket for just €1 at your local Lidl store. A winner will be selected from every single store to take part in an exciting Trolley Dash just in time for Christmas. Most importantly, every cent raised from ticket sales goes directly to our charity partner, Family Carers Ireland, the national charity dedicated to supporting family carers and young carers across Ireland. We are deeply committed to this partnership and have pledged to raise more than €1 million over the next three years to support their vital work. A huge thank you to Una Healy for helping us officially launch this nationwide fundraiser. We encourage everyone in the community to participate, help us reach our target for this deserving cause, and for the chance to win a Trolley Dash in your local Lidl. #LidlIreland #Partnership #FamilyCarersIreland #FestiveFundraiser #MoreToValueTrolley

We were delighted to open our brand new Lidl store in Killorglin, Co. Kerry, this morning and welcome crowds of customers through the doors of this highly anticipated new store. 🎉 Lidl Killorglin marks our 8th store in the county and has created 30 permanent retail jobs for the local community. The ribbon was officially cut this morning by Kerry LGFA star and Lidl ambassador Siofra O’Shea and charity representatives from SVP - Society of St. Vincent de Paul Ireland and Family Carers Ireland were also in attendance to each receive a donation of €500 in Lidl vouchers. Lidl opened its first store in Kerry in Killarney in 2000 and currently employs more than 130 people locally across its existing stores in Listowel, Dingle, Killarney, Kenmare, Castleisland, and two stores in Tralee. The opening of our new store in Killorglin contributes significantly to the local economy and further underscores our commitment to the county. Last year, we procured €3 million worth of goods and services from 18 suppliers and business partners across Kerry. This includes key local suppliers Listowel’s Prestige Foods, who have been supplying chilled and frozen desserts since 2013. Last year, Lidl also entered into a €2 million supply deal with Kerry Dairy Ireland for its own brand infant formula range. We are so excited to see the positive impact this new store will have on the community! Best of luck to the store team on this new chapter 🚀 #LidlIreland #MoretoValue #NewStoreOpening #WeAreLidl

Today, Lidl Ireland took a major step towards a greener future with the opening of Ireland’s first ever Net Zero Energy supermarket in Maynooth, Co. Kildare 💚 As Ireland’s Most Sustainable Retailer, Lidl Ireland has invested more than €10 million into the local community in delivering the first supermarket in the country to produce all of its own energy from renewable sources and have no impact on the climate. Minister for Climate, Environment and Energy Darragh O'Brien TD cut the ribbon and officially opened the new store this morning, marking a major milestone for Irish businesses on the journey to becoming more sustainable. Employing a team of 32 local staff, the Lidl Maynooth store team also selected local charity Maynooth Autism Friendly Town to receive a donation of €1,000 in Lidl vouchers. Eco advocate Roz Purcell also toured the new store this morning to discover Lidl Maynooth's sustainable features which make this Lidl truly one of a kind including: 🌿A lush living wall surrounds the store entrance, sustained by a smart rainwater recovery system 🌻A pollinator-friendly community garden with bird boxes, native wildflower planting and insect log piles creates a thriving habitat for biodiversity ⚡6 EV charging stations powered by renewable electricity as well as 12 free-to-use chargers for e-bikes and scooters, along with enhanced cycle parking facilities ♻️ 2 DRS machines - one of which is a high-capacity bulk feeder (only the second of its kind in any Lidl store in Ireland!) making it even easier for customers to recycle large quantities of plastic bottles and cans in one go ☀️Solar panels installed across the roof and car park - equivalent to the size of 13 tennis courts – allows the store to operate efficiently overnight ❄️ Innovative, energy efficient technology within the store and its chillers and freezers captures waste heat to keep these areas cool, and recycles it to heat the store. 🏗️ Built using stone salvaged from the original Maynooth store, concrete made from 50% recycled materials, sustainable timber roof beams and lower embodied carbon roof and wall panels. With every detail considered, from recycled building materials to community donations of soil, fencing, and timber, Lidl’s Net Zero Energy store in Maynooth marks a proud first for Ireland and a glimpse at the future of greener shopping. #LidlIreland #MoretoValue #NetZero #Sustainability #SustainableRetail
