    Spike now supports gaps in on-call schedules! Previously, schedules had to be continuous. Now, teams can add gaps directly into a rotation (e.g., Person A → Gap → Person B). If a schedule has a gap in Layer 1, teams can use Layer 2 to fill it automatically. For instance, if Person A has a gap day in Layer 1, Person B in Layer 2 steps in to cover it. This feature also helps reduce alert fatigue. If an escalation policy notifies both a person and a Slack channel, alerts that hit during a gap go only to the Slack channel. The team stays informed, but no one gets paged unnecessarily. This update gives teams: - Flexible rotation patterns with intentional breaks - Automated coverage filling from secondary layers - Reduced alert fatigue during gaps - Better control over complex rotation needs Build the rotations your team actually needs, gaps included. #oncallschedules #oncall #oncallflexibility #oncallengineers

    Introducing day in handoff! Previously, your handoff day on a weekly rotation was tied to the day on-call was created. This means if you set up on-call on Wednesday, then handoffs happen every Wednesday. Always. You can now choose which day of the week your on-call rotation should switch—every Monday, every Tuesday, and so on. This gives teams more control over their schedule. Spike also added more improvements: - Ready-to-use templates: Create schedules instantly with pre-built layers for weekday, weekend, night shifts, or business hours. - Holiday calendar: Add your company's holiday calendar to see holidays directly on your on-call schedule.     On-call Layers now support start and end dates. Every on-call layer now has a "Set duration" option. This lets teams define exact start and end dates for when a layer should be active. For example, teams can now create a holiday coverage layer that automatically activates on Christmas and deactivates after the New Year. No manual changes are needed during the break. Teams can also pre-configure layers that go live next quarter. This gives on-call teams: - A set-and-forget way to manage holiday coverage - The ability to plan complex rotations months in advance - Reduced risk of manual errors or forgotten schedule changes And overall, a better work-life balance! #oncall #oncallflexibility #oncallschedules #oncallengineers
