Gaming’s next big unlock isn’t a new platform or tech, it’s Women! India is witnessing a growing interest from women in gaming. The best ideas, communities, or gameplay don’t care where you come from; they care what you bring to the table and women are increasingly showing up and building the Indian gaming ecosystem. India was projected to hit 500 million gamers by 2025 (FICCI-EY), and mobile gaming alone valued at USD 3.02 billion in 2024  is expected to reach USD 11.00 billion by 2033 (IMARC). It is monumental to note that nearly half of all casual gamers are women, however, as founders, developers or studio leads we are astonishingly underrepresented. That has to shift - not tomorrow, now. As one of the individuals tasked with developing India's gaming communication framework from the ground up, I've seen firsthand what happens when women lead: They will bring different perspectives to a male dominated ecosystem, opportunity for growth given the additional diversified audience and support towards an inclusive culture, among many others. Women in leadership roles in India isn't just possible, it's imminent, just like our international counterparts. Acceptance will come. But only if we actively build the pipeline. That means: - Professionalizing women in gaming leadership across studios, esports orgs, and comms. - Building systems and ethos that encourage women to aspire to become founders in the gaming space offering them mentorship and visibility. - Teaching in technical and soft skills that matter: systems thinking, creative writing, community modding, business modeling and more. To anyone thinking about a career in the games industry, continue to learn the tools, sure, but don't shortchange the story. The best games connect, not just entertain. Know your audience. Know your voice. And build where culture meets code. Many women are already doing some great work out there while many others might be in the waiting to start up, grow and build. We don’t need permission to lead, we just need to create the space and opportunities, and make our mark. On positive note: RMG Games getting banned might have a long term positive impact on Indian Gaming industry. It could bring more focus on building high quality engaging games, investing in tech, experimenting with new ideas and pushing the bar to worlds class. With all the investment and focus, we can take the industry forward. It will still happen step by step but the effort can be expedited with big players joining in. #GameDevelopment #IndianGameDev

2025 may not be a promising year for the Indian advertising industry. As is tradition, the second month of the year sees a flurry of reports from advertising giants.
