🌍 ANNOUNCEMENT | ILDC Regional Workshops on Youth Engagement in Land Governance & Dalit Land Rights 📍 Bengaluru | 30–31 May 2025 We are pleased to announce two upcoming regional workshops under the umbrella of the India Land and Development Conference (ILDC), focusing on two urgent themes in India’s land governance landscape: 🔹 Youth Engagement in Land Governance 🔹 Dalit Land Rights and Tenure Security 📌 Why These Workshops Matter: In India, land remains central to identity, livelihood, and justice—yet the systems governing it continue to exclude those most affected. Youth from marginalized communities often remain disconnected from land decision-making due to systemic barriers, lack of access, and limited knowledge. Simultaneously, Dalit communities continue to face entrenched exclusion from land ownership and control, perpetuating cycles of economic and social marginalization. These workshops are crucial to bridging this gap—by creating inclusive spaces for dialogue, advocacy, and collaboration across stakeholders. They aim to spark long-term, community-led change that addresses structural inequities in land governance. 👥 Who Should Tune In: While these are closed-door workshops, they bring together a dynamic mix of young leaders, Dalit rights advocates, researchers, legal experts, grassroots organizers, and civil society actors to build knowledge, share lived experiences, and develop pathways for action. Support for Large Scale Afforestation Project in Central India Haritika NGO is working since 1994 in Central India with marginalised and excluded Tribal Communities  a collaborative initiative in Madhya Pradesh, India, focuses on large-scale afforestation and the planting of economically beneficial native tree species on degraded community lands and smallholder farms with various Donors . Over the next six years, the project aims to plant 21 million trees, spanning 45000 hectares, and involving approximately 19 native species selected in consultation with local communities. “The primary objective of Project is to restore degraded lands in the rural districts of Madhya Pradesh & Uttar-Pradesh, through large-scale afforestation and sustainable land management practices, thereby enhancing ecological health, improving community livelihoods, and addressing regional challenges of water and food scarcity.” The Panna Project is a transformative initiative that goes beyond carbon sequestration. It integrates environmental restoration with community upliftment, fostering sustainable livelihoods, improving agricultural practices, and enhancing the quality of life for thousands in Madhya Pradesh. Till Date We have planted around 48 lakh Trees in Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh requesting support to all the Donors and Corporates under Their CSR Programme to support us in Large scale Afforestation Project.   Key Components of Project: • o  Afforestation and Revegetation: The project revitalizes degraded ecosystems through       o  large-scale tree planting, enhancing local biodiversity and addressing climate o  resilience. o  Livelihood Enhancement: Economically beneficial tree species are cultivated near smallholder farms to generate income for local communities. o  Water Infrastructure Development: Construction of ponds, dams, and community tanks, along with bore-wells and solar pumps, ensures improved water Renewable Energy/ Solar Energy Livelihood Enhancement Carbon Revenue Sharing & upfront funding Panna Afforestation Project Components Water Infrastructure Development & Management Climate Smart Agriculture Training Afforestation & revegetation availability, boosts agricultural productivity, and increases tree survival rates. o  Climate-Smart Agriculture Training: Farmers are trained in sustainable practices like zero tillage and mulching to improve yields and mitigate climate impacts. o  Carbon Revenue Sharing and Upfront Funding: Community members benefit from carbon revenue and multimillion-dollar funding for local education, healthcare, and infrastructure development. o  Restoring biodiversity, attracting birds & butterflies back to degraded land
