Back home in Goa for a short trip, I had an interesting conversation with my dad and sister, both musicians. They asked, “What’s the difference between what you’re building at Beatoven.ai compared to competitors like Suno?” I explained that unlike many others, we don’t train models by stealing content; instead, we collaborate directly with the music industry. Their next question was, “Isn’t it illegal to use music without the artists’ permission?” My response: “Exactly.” While the average consumer understands this, it seems our lawmakers, investors, and parts of the AI community don’t fully grasp the issue. That speaks volumes about how much money is involved in lobbying.
