When disasters strike, timing is everything. At WFP, we’re deploying tools to help us act faster in the face of extreme weather. ⚡️ After Hurricane Melissa struck, WFP’s Disaster Risk Financing (DRF) partnership with the government of Jamaica has ensured US$ 1.9 million from a CCRIF insurance payout will be distributed to vulnerable persons through the national social protection system, supporting recovery of those impacted by the storm. Why does this matter? Because acting early isn’t just a concept - it’s a lifeline. DRF helps WFP ensure communities are better prepared and can recover more quickly after disasters.
