  • Through the Response for Evidence-driven Scaling of Emergency Shelter and NFIs in Kenya (RESCUE) project, and in collaboration with ECHO, IOM - UN Migration, the Kenya Red Cross has been supporting displaced families and host communities in Kakuma, Dadaab, and Mandera with essential non-food items (NFIs). Since the project began in July 2025, KRCS has worked closely with UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency to verify the most vulnerable individuals, ensuring that no one is left out and that assistance reaches those who need it most; including refugees, asylum seekers, and persons on the move. This initiative is designed to provide lifesaving emergency shelter and critical household items, improving living conditions for shock-affected and displaced populations across Kenya. A huge appreciation to all partners, volunteers, and teams on the ground who make this work possible. Your commitment continues to restore dignity and hope where it’s needed most.

Strong leadership and an ethical organisational culture are the cornerstones of integrity. They shape how decisions are made, how teams operate, and ultimately, how trust is built within organisations and society. Our Partner and Head of Dispute Resolution, Aisha Abdallah, recently joined fellow leaders at the inaugural Integrity Conference 2025 organised by the Kenya Red Cross on a panel titled 'Leadership & Organisational Culture: Leading with Integrity in a Complex World.' The discussion underscored that integrity is not just about financial accountability; it’s a collective responsibility. Real impact comes from turning policies into action, investing in people who embody organisational values, and recognising that while compliance has a cost, non-compliance costs far more. This year’s conference theme, 'Strengthening Our Institutions,' resonates with our belief that integrity shapes resilient institutions. As the world faces escalating crises, funding pressures, and the ethical challenges of digital transformation, the call for strong leadership, transparency, and accountability has never been louder. #IntegrityConference2025 #Leadership #EthicalLeadership #OrganisationalCulture #Transparency #Accountability #OneALN

My heart is full of gratitute. After spending months curating the content and planning the KRCS Integrity conference, we finally saw the birth of it last week. It was a good one, well attended, fun and engaging, with delegates demonstrating our shared commitment to integrity within the movement. The panel speakers were remarkable, provoking thought with diverse views within and outside the movement. This was a timely conversation for Red Cross Red Crescent Movement Partners to; > Exchange experiences > Exchange Ideas and best practices > Re-commit to our shared objectives As integrity is an everyday practice, the conference explored Moving from Policies to sustainable integrity practices while protecting our People, Principles and Resources! Cognizant of the fact that our 7 Fundamental Principles are tested daily, ethics matter now more than ever. As Elder Bolaji puts it, it is clear what integrity is "knowing is not enough, we should apply; willing is not enough, we should act". I believe great things happen when we come together as a true Movement , bounded by the 7 fundamental principles that have stood the test of time- Humanity, Impartiality, Neutrality, Independence, Voluntary Service, Unity, and Universality. As humanitarians, we can be a powerful force of change and the standard of humanitarian excellence. However, this is only possible if we truly upheld our principles and breathed through them daily. And we fail to do so, we suffer an existential threat as we lose trust in communities, beneficiaries and other stakeholders that we stand to serve. We hope the KRCS Integrity Conference 2025 was an awakening; a reminder of why we are here, who we need to protect, a call to action, an inspiration and a time to embrace our differences and support each other as we truly demonstrate ethical leadership in times of crisis. To many more open difficult ethical conversations within the movement. Sincere gratitute to all our Movement colleagues & experts who sponsored us, supported us, stood with us, cheered us on and accepted our humble invitation to make this a truly remarkable inaugural integrity conference experience! Truly humbled by the attendance of IFRC Africa Governing group, NS Presidents, NS Secretary Generals, and KRCS NEC executives. Thank you! #KRCSintegrityconference2025 #kenyaredcrosssociety

Our teams remain on the ground in Chesongoch, Elgeyo Marakwet and surrounding areas, supporting ongoing search and rescue, psychosocial support, and relief efforts amid challenging conditions. Access is tough, but our volunteers continue to reach affected families, crossing rivers and rough terrain to deliver hope and help.
