Position Summary:


We are seeking a highly motivated and technically proven AI Chief Engineer to lead the development of an AI/ML-based Predictive Maintenance (PdM) Solution for solar and BESS(Battery Energy Storage System) power facilities. This role requires not only strong leadership and R&D management capabilities but also a deep technical understanding of advanced analytics, sensor integration, and applied machine learning for industrial systems. The successful candidate will bridge engineering, data science, and energy operations to deliver HEIS (Hanwha Energy Integration System)

Platform Description:

HEIS 2.0 is a cloud-based energy monitoring integrated platform that was developed by Hanwha Convergence. HEIS 2.0 is composed of HEIS.UEP (Utility Energy Platform), HEIS.O&M (Operation and Maintenance), and new features (PdM) are targeting HEIS 3.0


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Lead and manage HEIS R&D with available resources for successful R&D completion on time and within budget.
  • Direct and coordinate the end-to-end development of predictive maintenance solutions for solar and BESS power assets, leveraging sensor networks, time-series data, and AI/ML algorithms.
  • Define system architecture for data acquisition, preprocessing pipelines, model training, validation, deployment, and continuous monitoring.
  • Supervise and collaborate with cross-functional teams located in USA and South Korea including data scientists, AI engineers, electrical/mechanical engineers, and software developers.
  • Ensure scalability, reliability, and accuracy of predictive models to minimize downtime and optimize asset performance.
  • Manage R&D milestones, technical risk assessments, and ensure compliance with corporate standards and industry regulations.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies (e.g., edge AI, real-time anomaly detection) and integrate them into the solution roadmap.
  • Lead talent acquisition and team building to establish a high-performing, multidisciplinary project team (data scientists, AI engineers, and software QA/QC).
  • Report technical progress, KPIs, and risk mitigation strategies to senior leadership.
  • Perform other duties and/or tasks as required.

Education and/or Experience Requirements:


  • Minimum 10+ years of experience in AI/ML solution development, predictive maintenance, industrial IoT, or renewable energy systems.
  • Proven project management experience in large-scale technical or R&D programs.
  • Strong expertise in machine learning algorithms (supervised, unsupervised, anomaly detection, prognostics).
  • Hands-on experience with data processing and modeling tools (e.g., Python, TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn, SQL/NoSQL).
  • Knowledge of signal processing, time-series analysis, and sensor integration for industrial systems.
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, Data Science, or a related technical discipline.


Others

  • Direct experience with renewable energy systems, solar plant operations, or energy asset management.
  • Familiarity with big data platforms (Hadoop, Spark), cloud services (AWS, Azure, GCP), and deployment of ML models in production environments.
  • Experience with digital twin modeling, edge computing, or real-time streaming analytics.
  • Strong publication or patent record in predictive maintenance, AI/ML applications, or energy systems.


Physical Requirements / Work Environment:

  • In office work onsite in Georgetown, Tx.
  • Fast paced with priorities that often change to meet current priorities.
  • Travel to customer sites is required, and the ability to travel internationally with a valid passport.
  • Must be legally entitled to work in the USA and prepared to travel abroad.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Manual dexterity sufficient to operate standard office equipment.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally (e.g., parts, boxes, binders).
  • Occasional travel (up to 20%)
