It's never been harder to get internal buy-in for sustainability. This is what I learnt selling OpenAtlas to +20 sustainability & ESG teams this year: Budgets are tight. Timelines are tighter. And if the value’s not obvious to management, it gets sidelined. 🟢 Sustainability doesn’t sell itself. 🔵 Risk reduction & revenue protection does. ⚫ If you want to win over boss (and their boss) you need to stop leading with frameworks and start leading with NUMBERS. Not “we mapped our suppliers.” 👉 “We reduced exposure to €X in non-compliant volume.” Not “this helps us hit Scope 3.” 👉 “This prevents a shipment ban worth 12% of annual revenue.” Not “we’re improving traceability.” 👉 “We identified non-compliant 86 suppliers; protecting brand equity and €3.2M in export volume.” 💡 Don’t lead with a report. Lead with a business case. And the best ones always start the same way: - What decision-ready data do we ALREADY have? - Where are the highest risks to REVENUE? - What’s the first compliance OUTCOME we can measure? The teams getting this right don’t treat sustainability as a reporting function. They treat it as a strategic lever in budget, procurement, and product planning.
