Project Environmental & Social (E&S) Engineer – Contract Role | Major Deepwater FPSO Development | EPC & Operations

We are recruiting a Project Environmental & Social (E&S) Engineer on a 12 month contract (renewable) based in Rotterdam to support one of the largest and most strategically significant deepwater FPSO developments currently under execution. The project is operated by a global offshore energy leader, renowned for delivering complex FPSO projects to the highest technical, safety, and ESG standards.

This is a rare opportunity to work on a high-profile, lender-financed offshore development with long-term operational impact, extensive international stakeholder exposure, and strong visibility at corporate level.

Key Responsibilities

EPC Phase

• Coordinate and participate in regular internal meetings with project, finance, and ESG teams, as well as external meetings with ESG banks, lenders, third parties, and the Environmental & Social advisor.
• Organise and support delivery of E&S-related training sessions as required.
• Pre-Operational Monitoring:
• Prepare the annual Pre-Operational Monitoring Report aligned with lender requirements.
• Develop, implement, and monitor progress against the Construction Environmental & Social Management Plan (ESMP) for a large-scale offshore construction programme.
• Coordinate E&S advisor site visits and contribute to the Annual Monitoring Report.
• ESDD Risk Management:
• Track and manage environmental and social risks identified through Environmental & Social Due Diligence (ESDD).
• Monitor implementation and closure of Environmental & Social Action Plan (ESAP) actions in collaboration with internal action owners.
• Operational ESMP Development:
• Work with Operations teams to develop and implement the Operational ESMP ahead of first oil.

Operations Phase

• Monthly KPI Collection & Reporting:
• Collect, validate, and report monthly environmental and social KPIs from both shore-base and FPSO operations.
• Annual Reporting to Lender-Approved Advisor:
• Provide comprehensive FPSO, environmental, and social performance data to the lender-approved E&S advisor and support preparation of the Annual Progress Report.
• Annual Progress Report Finalisation:
• Integrate feedback from ESG, Sustainability, FPSO Operations, and Shore-base stakeholders and submit the final report to Corporate Finance for distribution to Lenders and ECAs.
• Lender & ECA Engagement:
• Support responses to lender and ECA comments and Q&A through structured coordination with the E&S advisor and internal teams.

Candidate Profile

• Sustainability, Environmental, or Social Engineer with 5+ years’ experience in offshore Oil & Gas or deepwater developments.
• Strong exposure to FPSO projects, EPC execution, and/or offshore operations.
• Solid understanding of lender, ECA, and ESG compliance frameworks.
• Proven ability to manage complex, multi-party stakeholder environments.
• Highly organised, proactive, and comfortable working on a large, fast-paced flagship project.
