As part of our mission to grow Portugal’s gaming industry, we’re building four new Gaming Hubs 🇵🇹 The hubs, located in Funchal in Madeira Island, Angra do Heroísmo in the Azores, Lisbon, and Évora, will feature a range of useful areas, such as prototyping labs, creative spaces, playtesting rooms, and coworking areas. Hundreds of people are predicted to be working in the hubs in the near future, which we’re sure will lead to a big boom for the Portuguese games industry. We can’t wait to share more with you soon!

This year marked the third time a Portuguese booth has been present at #gamescom. With the help of ACIF-CCIM, we’ve made the Portuguese developers' dreams possible once again with our biggest and best booth yet So many different Portuguese companies and partners came together at our Games From Portugal booth, including Redcatpig, Yacooba, Infinity Games, WalkMe Mobile Games, FootAR - A New Dimension 🚀, WOWSystems :: One Way Eleven, Fapptory, APVP, Universidade Lusófona - Centro Universitário Lisboa, Startup Madeira and Unicorn Factory Lisboa. A big thank you to everyone who visited our booth and spoke with our team. We loved spreading the word about our consortium members, Gaming Hubs, and Madeira Games Summit. ACIF and DevGAMM's Portuguese Happy Hour was also a huge success. It is with immense sadness that eGames Lab received the news of the passing of Filipe Pina, a true architect of digital dreams, whose vision helped lay the foundations of the video game industry in Portugal for years to come. A true master of new worlds, a guardian of interactive narratives, a sower of alternative futures. Where many saw only pixels and code, Filipe saw art, truly narrated and in motion, he saw communion and possibility. Throughout his journey, Filipe built bridges where there had once been chasms. He created communities where there had once been silence. And he trained entire generations of creators, artists, and programmers who today continue his mission of putting Portugal on the global map of digital creativity. In his legacy, we see paths opened, lives touched, talents awakened. Like in an RPG where the mentor guides the hero to their potential, Filipe was that beacon for so many of us. To his entire family, friends, and colleagues, we offer our deepest condolences. May his name continue to echo in the cutscenes of our memory and may his creative spirit remain alive in every new game that is born in this country that he helped transform. May he rest in peace. And may he continue, wherever he is, to design universes. eGames Lab
