🛰️🌱 Digital Eyes on the Field: Monitoring Onion Growth with ABS Veggie As part of Task 2.1 of the ABS Veggie project Farmtopia Open Call, (#HorizonEurope), we’ve started testing how satellite data can support early-stage monitoring on our onion pilot parcel in Vojvodina. 📊 The image below shows initial EO outputs from the platform: ✔️ Growth Change Detection ✔️ Vegetation Classification ✔️ Management Zone Mapping Although the onions are still in their early growth phase, we’re already detecting variability in soil moisture and canopy development, even on a narrow strip of land, PG Svetislav Pačarić typical for many vegetable plots in the region. 📅 Next month's , we’ll expand the analysis with more EO parameters to prepare for early spring actions like irrigation, fertilization, and pest/disease control. These will be combined with drone-based interventions, putting precision agriculture into practice for small farms. Yes, we’re a bit jealous of everyone enjoying in Hannover this week, but we have a pretty good excuse: we’re busy testing innovation where it truly belongs, out in the field. As part of our work on the #ABSVeggie project with the support of Farmtopia (#HorizonEurope) , our team at Agro Budget System (#ABSVeggie), together with our partners from #AgroAero, has successfully completed the data transmission test from the #ABSVeggie platform directly to a drone for variable spraying and fertilization of our onion crop at the field of our partner PG Svetislav Pačarić . This means that what we’ve been planning for months is finally taking flight, quite literally! The real environment testing is just around the corner, and we can’t wait to see the drone in action, guided by data from the #ABSVeggie platform. 🚜💻 Connecting Systems, Empowering Farmers Earlier this week, our #ABS Veggie team- Agro Budget System met with our Farmtopia partner ITC - Innovation Technology Cluster (#Slovenia), the developers behind the #Farmtopia Digital Field Book to discuss the technical integration into the ABS Veggie platform. We’re proud to report that: ✔️ The integration has been successfully tested in offline mode, enabling farmers to digitally log their activities at the plot level. ✔️ We also explored the technical preconditions for full online integration, which will allow real-time synchronization between the ABS Veggie and Farmtopia environments. As we move through Phase 2 of the project, testing this service in real-life conditions will be key especially during the ongoing onion production cycle. Traceability, compliance, and standardized field activity records are essential building blocks for small-scale farming innovation and we’re excited to co-develop this with real end users in #Serbia. 🚀 ABS Veggie reaches its first milestone! 🌱 We are proud to announce that our team has successfully completed the first 3-month phase of the ABS Veggie project — funded under the Farmtopia Open Call (Horizon Europe).
