Why did you choose to work at Billerud this summer? ” I’ve worked at Billerud before and always really enjoyed it. It’s a fascinating manufacturing process that I want to learn more about. So far, I’ve learned how the winder works and what needs to be prepared before each run. I’ve also received lots of valuable tips from colleagues on what to keep in mind when operating a machine.” Emil, operator, Karlsborg. Why did you choose to work at Billerud this summer? “I grew up in Frövi and Billerud has always felt like a natural part of the community. Many of my relatives work or have worked here, which made the workplace feel familiar. I recently graduated and wanted to try something new and at the same time contribute to my hometown. CWPCo, Billerud North America’s hydroelectric and utility operations team in central Wisconsin, has achieved an extraordinary milestone of 10 consecutive years without a single workplace injury! Why did you choose to work at Billerud this summer? “After many long conversations with my friend, I became curious about Billerud and felt that my personality would be a good fit here. Plus, the role aligned well with areas I’ve set personal goals to improve in. So far, I’ve learned what it really means to work safely. Why did you choose to work at Billerud this summer? “Billerud had a lecture at my school about summer job opportunities and after that I applied for a job. I had a great time at Billerud last summer. I also completed my school’s workplace-based learning here. And I felt this is what I want to do. Why did you choose to work at Billerud this summer? “The position at Billerud seemed both fun and creative, but I also heard a lot of good things from friends about the workplace. Something I really have come to understand since I started at Billerud is cardboard and all its properties. Why did you choose to work at Billerud this summer? “Since I’m from Kalix, I’ve always heard a lot of good things about the mill in Karlsborg. When I knew I was going to spend the summer in Kalix, I felt it would be both fun and educational, to get a better understanding of how it all works, especially the process surrounding packaging, and Billerud in general. Now, I’ve learned a lot in a short time. I participated in a Technical Sales Training which made me understand how many people in different parts of the world actually work at Billerud and how big the company is.” Julia, packaging technician, Karlsborg Every year we welcome around 400 summer workers to the Billerud production units. Sofia Hedevåg joins Billerud on 1 December 2025 as Executive Vice President, Sustainability & Public Affairs. She most recently held the role of SVP Sustainability and member of the Group Management Team at Gränges. Before that, she held senior roles within Business Control and Corporate Sustainability at Swedish Match. She brings extensive experience of creating business value from sustainability and delivering measurable business impact. “I'm happy and excited to welcome Sofia Hedevåg to Billerud. Sofia comes with a vast experience and strong credentials.
