💚 GOOD GREEN NEWS (no.40) 💚 - Two FOAKs, ecosystem restoration, a big move in CCS for the UK and more... 👇 🇺🇸 Avnos, Inc. has secured $17 million in funding from Shell and Mitsubishi Corporation (Americas) to build Project Cedar, the first-of-its-kind Hybrid Direct Air Capture (HDAC) facility in the U.S. ✈️ Isometric has received ICAO approval to issue CO₂ credits under CORSIA, the UN-backed aviation offset scheme. This landmark move means airlines can now meet their CORSIA obligations with scientifically rigorous, transparent carbon removal credits. 🌳 IKEA is going beyond furniture - to forests. Inter IKEA Group has announced a major forest-based carbon removal project in Brazil, in partnership with BTG Pactual Timberland Investment Group. The initiative will restore and manage 4,000 hectares of degraded land in the Atlantic Forest. It was once one of the most diverse ecosystems on Earth, now reduced to just 13% of its original size. 💨 London-based Cory has received government approval to build a carbon capture and storage (CCS) system at its Riverside Energy-from-Waste site in Belvedere. The project will capture 1.4 million tonnes of CO₂ per year, making it the largest waste-to-energy CCS initiative in the UK. 🏭 U.S. climate-tech firm Verdox and Norway’s Norsk Hydro have achieved a first-of-its-kind trial proving all-electric CO₂ capture from aluminium smelting emissions. 🧪 ADM has officially begun operations at its Columbus, Nebraska site, which is now the world’s largest bioethanol CCS facility. 🇲🇾 PETRONAS has just secured Malaysia’s first offshore carbon storage assessment permit - a milestone under the new CCUS Act 2025. 🇮🇳 Varaha has secured a $30 million investment from Mirova to scale its regenerative agriculture project in India, supporting over 300,000 smallholder farmers in Haryana and Punjab. The deal marks Mirova’s largest nature-based CDR investment.
