Now that #IYQ25 is behind us, what does 2026 bring? Daniel Shiu, Arqit's Chief Cryptographer, argues that 2026 needs to be the year of cryptographic discovery. In 2025 various advisory bodies published explicit guidelines for PQC migration. It's now time for organisations to look under the hood and work out what cryptography they are actually using, so those timelines can mean something in practice. Preventative maintenance is better than waiting for your car to break down. If that happens and you can't complete your journey it's irritating.
