"If data is the new oil, why are so many engines stalling?” – Kelly Bream opened her panel with this thought-provoking question, setting the tone for a discussion on how real estate can better harness data for operational excellence. At PropTech Connect, Kelly led an expert panel: Karl Jepsson, Alvaro Ontanon, Nikolaj Brammer, Jim Whalen and Ed Ellerington exploring the opportunities and challenges in adopting a data-driven approach to building operations. Key themes included: ▪️The critical role of data integration across disparate systems to unlock real value. ▪️The need for cultural change alongside technological investment, ensuring stakeholders understand and trust the insights generated. ▪️The potential of data to drive sustainability outcomes, optimise energy use, and enhance tenant experiences. ▪️Barriers to adoption, including data quality, privacy concerns, and fragmented platforms, which slow down progress. The panellists emphasised that while the real estate industry is generating more data than ever, turning that information into actionable insights requires collaboration, clear strategy, and a willingness to innovate. #PropTechConnect #AI #DigitalTransformation #WomenInTech #PropTech #LegoChampion

Bidwells volunteers sorted thousands of carrots - and learned something powerful about food waste 🥕 Four team members from our Operational Living team spent a day at The Felix Projects Deptford warehouse, London's largest food redistribution charity. They helped sort surplus food, organise stock, and prepare orders for the 233+ organisations the charity supplies across the city. The numbers are striking: every volunteer hour equals 200 meals, meaning their day's work contributed to 4,800 meals reaching Londoners in need. Ed Howe from the team reflected: "It was great to learn how Project Felix saves food from waste by distributing it across London's schools and community hubs. We spent the day sorting and picking food for deliveries - working our way through thousands of carrots!" Kate Brennan added: "We were staggered by the scale of food waste in the UK. Brilliant to see a charity preventing that waste while getting food to people who need it." The Felix Project redistributes over 30 million meals annually with help from volunteers. They're always looking for people who can spare a few hours - and with 200+ organisations still on their waiting list, every pair of hands makes a real difference. Scottish Government Approves Repowering of Windy Standard 1 👏⚡ We have secured planning permission for the repowering of Windy Standard 1, one of Scotland’s earliest wind farms and now among the first to benefit from repowering consent. The project will see the decommissioning of 36 existing turbines, to be replaced by eight next generation 6.2MW turbines standing up to 200 metres tall. This repowering will more than double the site’s generating capacity to 49.6MW and extend its operational life by 35 years. This milestone reflects the value of long-term support in navigating the complexities of grid reform, planning and land management, helping to unlock the full potential of renewable energy assets.
