ACCESS THE HIDDEN 70% OF THE TALENT MARKET. Most sources suggest that only 20–30% of people are actively looking for a new role at any one time, and that’s the conservative estimate. The rest aren't scrolling job boards or LinkedIn, certainly aren't actively applying. A big part of our job is spending time with that other 70%. Having conversations before they're updating their CV, understanding what they’re working on, what would pique their interest, and what might actually get them to move when the timing’s right. We’ve pulled a snapshot of that passive talent into our BioAI Talent Index. It gives you a clear view of who's out there and what they're looking for. We'll drop the link in the comments. #passivetalent #candidates

As we've grown, we’ve been conscious of keeping hold of what has historically worked well here. The strength of the team has always come from a mix of backgrounds, motivations and ambitions, and how people operate here day to day, rather than from a set of top-down values that sound great on a website but aren’t always lived. But as we grow further, we recognise the value in being clear about the standards that make us work well together. So in the latter half of 2025 we spent time speaking with people across the business about exactly that. What they enjoy about working here, what they value in the people around them, what we should protect as we scale further, and what we should actively hire for when new people join the team. Those conversations were condensed into the principles we rolled out at the beginning of 2026, and the principles we’re now sharing here. The aim is to put a bit of structure around behaviours that already exist at Cubiq, and to use them to help guide decisions, hiring, strategy, and how we work together. And if these resonate, you’d probably fit in well here. #principles

COMBATTING BLUE MONDAY HEAD ON. Rounded up the brave few who made it into the office this Blue Monday and treated ourselves to an extended lunch, and some proper indulgent grub at Winsome. Almost there folks, the end of the longest month of the year is in our sights. Until then we'll be dreaming of this steak and blue cheese pie. #bluemonday

CURRENTLY HIRING IN MARKETS WITH IMPACT. We’re genuinely thankful to be operating in areas where the work has a tangible impact on how the world functions. Ask anyone on our team why they’re passionate about the people they speak to and the teams they help build, and you'll pick up on a common thread – the companies we partner with are working towards missions that deliver a real difference, a global net-positive. We’re facilitating career moves that enable real progress on problems that, even as little as 10 years ago, didn’t have a viable solution. In practice, that's supporting: ↗️ Data engineers enabling ML models used for more effective cancer research ↗️ Robotics teams building machines that plant and harvest crops faster ↗️ Product teams that turn AI research into tools used by doctors, scientists, farmers, and emergency responders ↗️ Autonomy experts building robots that can operate on their own in dangerous settings ↗️ Software devs building systems that monitor and improve food production efforts in harsh climates ↗️ ML researchers developing models that predict extreme weather and natural disasters earlier AI and robotics are being applied to some of the most important challenges facing the world, and we’re incredibly grateful to play our part in growing these fields and helping push the tech forward. We’re currently hiring across both our AI and robotics teams. If you'd like to move into these spaces, this is your chance. We’ll drop the links to directly apply in the comments, but feel free to fire us a DM here or get in touch at careers@cubiqrecruitment.com for further details. #hiring

"We’re very clear on the opportunity in front of us and the position we want to hold in our markets, but we’re not finished building, far from it." We’re pleased to share that Matt McKenna is stepping into the role of CEO. Matt joined Cubiq almost a decade ago, and has grown steadily with the business as we've expanded into new markets and built deeper specialism across our teams. Moving from building a successful desk, to building successful teams, to eventually defining commercial strategy, his progression here reflects the type of long-term development and opportunity we aim to create for everyone at Cubiq. Stepping into the CEO role formalises that progression and brings clear focus to the direction we’re taking next. This is a really important step as we continue building on solid foundations. A massive congratulations to you, Matt. #lifeatcubiq

As we have grown, so too has the scope and complexity of how we operate. Over the last few years we’ve expanded our teams, entered new markets, and built the infrastructure needed to support that growth. As the business continues to scale, we recognise the value in defining leadership responsibilities more clearly so those foundations can be strengthened further. As part of this, we're thrilled to announce that Mark Davies will be stepping into the role of Chief Operating Officer, with a dedicated focus on how the business operates day-to-day and on building a long-term strategy that enables sustainable growth. "We have reached a point where our scale started to expose gaps in some of our structure and processes. Those are good problems to have, but they are problems that need solving. We're at a point where the business now needs clearer structure and operational focus, and foundations that can support us as we grow." - Mark Davies We’re excited about this move, and about having Mark formally focused on the structure, processes, and wider operations needed to continue supporting our teams and those we work with. #lifeatcubiq

Starting the week with a fresh bit of positive candidate feedback! We first spoke with Alex just before the Christmas break and quickly aligned on what he was really looking for in his next move. We introduced him to a team building digital platforms for the global rail industry, who were looking to bring in a Lead Engineer with a strong front-end and mobile focus to help shape the evolution of their user-facing platform. Alex went on to start with the firm shortly after we rolled into the new year, following a couple of rounds of interviews with the team. Huge credit to Kiera Johnson for staying close throughout, and making sure the process ran so smoothly. Congrats Alex, and thanks for taking the time to leave your feedback! #testimonial #review

A huge welcome to Hannah Mason, who joins us this week as we continue to grow our delivery function. Hannah brings over a decade of #recruitment experience, with a solid chunk of that spent filling technical roles in the life sciences world. She's operated both agency-side and as an embedded partner, so knows exactly how technical teams are built, having spent a long time growing them from within. She's also a qualified biochemist, so scientific concepts land pretty comfortably, and she's been able to draw on that knowledge to support on some really technically demanding requirements. Science has clearly followed her home, too, as she's proud parent to an adorable cat named Enzyme. Thrilled to have you on board Hannah! #welcome

The latter half of last year saw a real surge in interest around forward deployed engineers, and it's only set to increase in 2026. Those working in adjacent software roles started asking us what the shift involves, and whether it’s a stretch or a natural move for those currently in certain software roles. It’s a role that’s been around longer than people think. Palantir Technologies put a name to it years ago, but right now demand is soaring. The likes of OpenAI, Anthropic and Google DeepMind are all actively hiring and building forward deployed teams. If this is a corner of #software you’ve been interested in knowing more about, we've broken down where the role came from, why demand accelerated so quickly, and what a move into it can look like in practice. The blog’s in the comments. #AI #engineering #forwarddeployed #careersinAI
