  • Candidates still expect flexibility. Employers? More and more are quietly dragging people back into the office. It’s like Covid never happened. And there’s the disconnect. We’re hearing it daily. Employers mandating more days in the office, some even wanting employees back all 5 days - while candidates are asking “why can’t it be hybrid?” The result is frustration, disengagement, and good people quietly walking to businesses that get it. Our Managing Director, James Mowat, chatted about this in a recent podcast. If you’re writing off hybrid or remote without good reason, you’re choosing to exclude incredible talent. That’s not bold leadership – it’s lazy thinking. Here’s what the numbers say: Hybrid is now mainstream in Great Britain – 28% of working adults were hybrid between Jan–Mar 2025, especially in higher-income and degree-educated roles. (ONS) The demand is overwhelming. 98% of workers want flexibility at least some of the time. Productivity holds up (or even improves). 66% of employers say hybrid boosts it, and 84% of employees agree. Retention win – Stanford found hybrid workers are just as productive, more promotable, and less likely to quit. Ignore flexibility, lose talent. 48% of UK professionals say they’d quit if forced back full-time. Women are even more likely to leave (58% vs 42%). (Guardian) So where does hybrid hit the sweet spot? 🟠 Keeps productivity solid 🟠 Improves retention 🟠 Boosts wellbeing compared with both full remote and full office Bottom line? Some roles need to be in-person – surgeons, frontline staff, manufacturing. Fair enough. But if a role can be hybrid and you’re saying no, you’re not protecting productivity… you’re ruling out great talent. Hybrid done right doesn’t compromise. It elevates.   • Let’s be real here. Recruiters don’t always have the best rep. We ran a poll recently asking why businesses hesitate to use them. And the top reason given? Poor past experiences - 64% of you said it loud and clear. And let’s be honest - the industry hasn’t always done itself any favours. Too many “recruiters” are just keyboard warriors firing off CVs like they’re trying to break a new world record in under an hour! No wonder the word "agency" makes some people flinch.
