How do I navigate both large & small organisations as a leader? I recently sat down with Paul Agapow to discuss all things leadership on #CultureCorner. During the full podcast we also explore topics such as: ⭐Evolving leadership styles ⭐Challenges in Academia vs. Industry ⭐Navigating large organizations ⭐Building internal networks for success ⭐The challenges of scaling small companies ⭐Leadership mindset in growing organizations ⭐Cross-Functional team dynamics ⭐Bridging the gap between business and technology ⭐Hiring for growth: avoiding common pitfalls ⭐Developing future leaders ⭐The impact of AI on leadership Gave a great day everyone 🙂

Stand out in your next interview. Ask the right questions❗ Never forget that interviews are a two-way street. It's important to use the interview to uncover whether the role, team, and company truly align with your goals and next step on your career path. Here are six questions you can ask at your next interview ⭐ “What does success look like in this role within the first 6 months?” This shows you’re already thinking about impact and performance, not just tasks. ⭐ “How does the team handle challenges or setbacks?” Culture matters. This question reveals whether resilience and psychological safety are part of the DNA. ⭐ “How does the company support professional growth and learning?” Signals whether the employer invests in long-term development. ⭐ “What are the biggest challenges the team is currently facing?” Reveals how you might contribute and whether you’re ready for the realities of the role. ⭐ “Can you share an example of how feedback is given and received?” Feedback culture is the backbone of high-performing teams. This helps you gauge openness and trust. ⭐ “What excites you most about the company’s future?” This lets you hear directly from an employee. Enthusiasm (or lack of it) speaks volumes. What would you add ❓ Happy Friday ☺️

Last week was a little lively to say the least, but every cloud…. Not a bad view of Leeds from our new office after moving again (not planned this time). Another upside is that we have more room, which is needed given our recent growth. We are still hiring for experienced Recruitment Consultants – if you are interested at all or just want a confidential chat drop me a DM Exalto Consulting

Big thanks to Simon Shaw and Codurance for asking us to be part of the Scaling Without Breaking event yesterday. Despite the winter weather we had a great turn out with some really interesting conversations with a great group of people. Josh Nesbitt did a great job as resident expert and the event ran smoothly thanks to Hannah Pearce - thank you both 🙏 As ever we were well looked after by the DoubleTree by Hilton in their Sky Lounge with some lovely hot food to warm us up. There were loads of great takeaways for me on crafting the right culture from the top of an organisation, what tell-tale signs to look for to show you might be at breaking point and even a bit of insight into AI governance rules in Europe (a lot more interesting than it sounds!).

We had some really insightful discussions this morning at our breakfast event in Leeds. We talked about how tech leaders can successfully grow engineering teams without losing culture, the important role communication plays in this and how this differs depending on company size and team geography. A big thanks also to our guest speaker Josh Nesbitt who did a great job 👏 The Sky Lounge at the DoubleTree by Hilton Leeds was an excellent venue for the networking and breakfast discussion, and the coffee certainly helped us warm up from the -1°C temperatures outside! ❄️ It was a great collaborating with James Milner from Exalto Consulting on this event 🤝
