Our 2026 charity of the year 🤝   Each year, we invite colleagues to nominate and vote for our charity of the year; we are pleased to announce that the 2026 Helios charity of the year is Maggie's Centres. For three decades, Maggie’s charity has been a trailblazer for cancer care, providing free psychological, emotional and practical support for people living with cancer, as well as their families and friends. With 24 centres across the UK, built in the grounds of major NHS cancer hospitals, Maggie’s supports hundreds of thousands of people each year, with the charity offering support for people at all stages of cancer, including those receiving end-of-life care. Maggie’s co-founder, Maggie Keswick Jencks, used her own experience of having cancer to create a new type of cancer care, and the first Maggie’s centre opened in Edinburgh in 1996. Maggie’s idea was that with the right support, “nobody would lose the joy [of] living in the fear of dying when diagnosed with cancer”.
