This year at the Lord Mayor’s Show 2025, our float turned heads with a striking globe, crafted entirely from reclaimed materials by the talented students of The Grey Coat Hospital School. 🌍 The globe stands as a testament to teamwork and environmental responsibility. Built from recycled items such as old jackets, high vis vests, signage, and other scraps, it highlights how sustainability and innovation can work hand in hand. The students were thrilled to take part in the Lady Mayor’s Show, marking a historic moment for women. As this is only the third time a woman has held the office, and the very first to use the title of Lady Mayor. A huge thank you to the incredible students and teachers at The Grey Coat Hospital School for bringing this vision to life. Three, two, one… Fire! 💥 A few years ago, Keltbray undertook the latest major demolition activity at Ferrybridge ‘C’ Power Station. A single "blowdown" removed the two chimney stacks, the main boiler house, and the bunker bay on a site covering approximately 700 acres. Keltbray was appointed as Principal Contractor and Principal Designer for the demolition of the facility. In this complex project, we showcased expertise, prioritising safety, quality, teamwork, and communication with all parties involved. With the use of innovative technologies, the scope of works included: ✅ Large-scale asbestos removal contract ✅ Demolition of the heavy steel main power station structures using a combination of heavy machinery and the controlled use of explosives ✅ Demolition of eight reinforced concrete hyperbolic natural draft cooling towers by controlled use of explosives ✅ Demolition of two reinforced concrete chimneys, each 198 metres tall ✅ Demolition of major ancillary structures, including the original Coal Barge Unloader located on the banks of the River Aire Keltbray brings proven experience in decommissioning and demolition across the highly regulated sectors, highlighting the strength of our integrated service offering.
