About us
We are London’s most central airport and known internationally for our punctuality, speed of service and award-winning customer experience - from door to gate in under 20 minutes and getting out of the airport in as little as five. In 2024, we also completed a significant upgrade to our departure lounge, with 30% more seating, two new restaurants, duty free expansion, more washrooms and a brand-new look and feel throughout. London City Airport connects to over 30 leisure and business destinations in the UK, Europe and beyond, and in 2025 we are once again named London’s Best Airport by Which?. London City Airport is a major part of the local economy and is one of the largest private employers in Newham. Recognised by the Mayor of London’s Good Work Standard, the airport pays employees at least the London Living Wage and recruits locally. As a long-term contributor to the community, we run a number of programmes to raise aspirations, inspire students and prepare local people for work.

📊 New YouGov research, commissioned by London City Airport, has found that convenience is king when it comes to travel - with 60% of Londoners saying ease of access to the airport is their number one priority when choosing where to fly from ✈️ That’s why we’re proud to launch our new premium car park this summer, just 40 metres from the terminal entrance - offering passengers a smoother, faster start to their journey. While the vast majority of our passengers travel to London City via public and sustainable transport modes🚆, we are committed to giving our passengers more choice and control over how they travel to the airport. ⏱️ With average door-to-gate times of under 10 minutes, we provide the fastest and most convenient airport experience in the capital. Our Chief Commercial Officer, Andrew Hodges, said: “Whether you're juggling kids, carry-ons or just want a smoother journey for your summer holiday, we know that convenience is king, especially in a city like London. Seeing is believing... and my best working days are when I can pull back the curtain and take stakeholders on a behind-the-scenes tour of the airport. Last week, I was pleased to host our local Member of Parliament, James Asser MP, for a visit to London City Airport. James knows our airport well, having served as Deputy Mayor of the London Borough of Newham, located just across the Royal Docks, before his election to Parliament. But this was his first tour of our airside operations. My colleagues from customer services, the fire service, airfield operations, and ramp operations proudly showcased how we safely and efficiently run what The Telegraph recently ranked as London’s best airport. MPs are used to putting out metaphorical fires, but on this occasion, James got hands-on with the real thing during a live training exercise with our fire and rescue team! As Newham’s largest private sector employer and catalyst of regeneration in the The Royal Docks Team since 1987, London City Airport is deeply rooted in its community. Under our current growth plans, we expect to create over 4,000 new roles and generate more than £700 million in additional GVA by 2031. Maintaining open, transparent dialogue with our local stakeholders is essential to that journey and I am looking forward to many more tours in the future!
