Despite the warnings of short-term discomfort, our main character (we still need a name for them (Mappy? 🤣)... we are open to suggestions...) chose to embark on their journey of change. Along the way, they experienced the pressures to conform to the group and had to demonstrate courage to be more of themselves...more of the time. Now they reach the foot of the mountain, and must pass through 'mask-port control' before they can begin their ascension to the peak of the mountain. The courage they showed to be their authentic self is rewarded with genuine human connection and a sense of belonging to something bigger than themselves. Now, with their team, they can embark on their journey with a shared destination and navigate the challenges with a diverse range of characteristics and skills.
About us
We help develop high performance people and cultures by making the lessons of the highest performing athletes accessible to people in the business world. It is our belief that everyone wants to grow and explore their potential, but most of the time can lack the self awareness and tools to achieve this. In our experience, the one defining factor that facilitates growth is the ability to navigate change successfully. In our world, we call change 'transition'. We call ourselves M-A-P because we believe Meaning, Authenticity, and Purpose help people navigate transitions leading to the enhancement of performance, well-being, mental health, and the realisation of potential. Navigating change can be a challenging journey to face alone. At M-A-P we feel it is important you have access to people you can trust and we are here to guide you through this journey. Using our expertise, experience, and knowledge we have a proven track record, working in elite environments, developing individuals, groups, and organisations. Our passion is people. We can support you in attracting, retaining, and developing talented people to help you gain a competitive advantage in what is a highly competitive industry.

Our M-A-P philosophy is deep and complex, because human beings and the process of meaningful change is deep and complex. Our approach is based around the interconnected ideas of: - Meaning - Authenticity - Purpose With the help of Sophie Unsworth, we've attempted to make this complex philosophy more accessible in a fun and engaging way (thank you for your excellent work Sophie!!). Yesterday we asked people to join us in a game of catchphrase - today, we'd like people to come up with a caption for this drawing 👇 Caption Competition! Go!

Every interaction we have with the people we have the privilege to support is underpinned by our M-A-P philosophy. - Meaning - Authenticity - Purpose Our philosophy is deep and complex and we make no apologies for that - our philosophical beliefs are what make us who we are (and unique and distinct from others). Supporting human beings in their context in a holistic way is anything but simple! However, complexity and depth can sometimes be inaccessible. That's why we've partnered with Sophie Unsworth who has an exceptional talent for simplifying complexity through her amazing drawings! We have loved working with Sophie on this mini-project and we would highly recommend her to anyone looking to achieve a similar thing! Sophie has captured aspects of our philosophy in a fun and creative way. So, it's time for a game of catch-phrase - "say what you see" What shows up for you when you look at this picture?

Darren is an exceptional person and practitioner. We could not hold him in higher regard. If you'd like to join us for our final session of programme 2.0 - don't hesitate to reach out on here or email us at info@mapperformance.co.uk. The session costs £50 and will be delivered via Zoom.

The purpose of our 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲 🅜-🅐-🅟 programme is to help individuals and teams, in high-performance contexts, to 𝘛𝘩𝘳𝘪𝘷𝘦 𝘛𝘩𝘳𝘰𝘶𝘨𝘩 𝘊𝘩𝘢𝘯𝘨𝘦 The third phase of our programme is the 𝙀𝙫𝙖𝙡𝙪𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 phase. The purpose of this phase is to support individuals to review the extent to which their Execution met their Expectations... Due to the pressure to deliver high-performance, and the limited amount of time in which to achieve this, this is a phase that can often be missed (or at least not done in a formal and balanced way)! Evaluating our performance is seen as less valuable than preparing and delivering! However, the best we have worked with will find the optimal balance between Execution (action) and Evaluation (reflection)! When time is created to Evaluate, it tends to be used to focus on areas of performance concern, which leads to an imbalance between challenge and support. Over a prolonged period of time, if feedback is only provided when things are not going to plan, we run the risk of creating an environment of fear, where people feel unsafe and become avoidant of mistakes. The support we deliver in this phase is underpinned by our philosophical beliefs: - People crave feedback during moments of change - High self-awareness is associated with high self-belief - Social comparison rarely (if ever) leads to anything positive

I never set out to become a culture designer - but looking back, it makes perfect sense. For most of my life, I felt like I didn’t quite belong. Then, in 2016, I joined a tiny design agency as employee number three, and something clicked. It wasn’t just the work - it was the ✨way✨ we worked. The trust, the support, the ability to show up as my full (happily chaotic) self. That experience shaped everything. It made me realise that culture isn’t an accident - it’s something you design. Fast forward to now, and I help companies and teams build their own foundations that make culture, strategy, and operations actually work together. Because when people feel like they belong, that’s when the magic happens. 📣 So, to my Founders and People Leaders: if you’re thinking about how to intentionally build a culture that scales, let’s chat. Drop me a DM or comment below on the biggest culture challenge you’re facing right now. Here’s a clip from my Web Summit talk last November where I share a bit of that journey. Let me know what resonates! #WebSummit #PeopleAndCulture #StartupLife #CompanyCulture

The purpose of this phase is to support individuals and teams to Execute against their Expectations... ...Delivering sustainable high-performance...under pressure! It is an inevitability, that at times, we will 'fail'. In periods of low performance, people can withdraw to avoid the anxiety associated with these challenging moments... Whilst this might create some short-term comfort, it often leads to: - Internal negative self-talk - "do I have what it takes to do this?" - Bringing less of ourself to the group - Hyper-focusing on what others think about us - "they are going to find me out" - Fractures appearing within the team - Limited human connection The support we offer in this phase is underpinned by our philosophical beliefs: - Action despite anxiety requires courage! - Avoidance of the anxiety associated with pressure is a missed opportunity for growth and development - Short-term discomfort leads to long-term growth

Passion creates purpose, which inspires people. Sales is full of highs and lows, and that rollercoaster ride takes its toll. That’s why setting mini targets is so important. It keeps us moving, gives us that sense of progress, and helps us stay motivated. But the real magic happens when there’s a shared purpose—something bigger than just hitting individual targets. What I value is when you’re all working towards the same thing, success feels different. You don’t just celebrate your own wins; you celebrate everyone’s, because they matter just as much. So be passionate, show up with purpose, and share your goals with others. When you do, you create something bigger than yourself—and that’s where the real success happens.

The purpose of our 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲 🅜-🅐-🅟 programme is to help individuals and teams, in high-performance contexts, to 𝘛𝘩𝘳𝘪𝘷𝘦 𝘛𝘩𝘳𝘰𝘶𝘨𝘩 𝘊𝘩𝘢𝘯𝘨𝘦 The first phase of our programme is the 𝙀𝙭𝙥𝙚𝙘𝙩𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 phase. During the 𝙀𝙭𝙥𝙚𝙘𝙩𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 phase, we will support you, and your team, to (re)define what it means to be high-performing in your context. We called phase 1 '𝙀𝙭𝙥𝙚𝙘𝙩𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣' after listening to the lived-experience of our clients. We see two common patterns in this phase: 1. Individuals or teams do not meet their own expectations (or the expectations of others...) and in response, they put more pressure on themselves to exceed previous expectations 2. Individuals or teams meet, or exceed, their own expectations (brilliant!) and then proceed to 'raise the bar' and create greater expectations In both cases, a gap appears between our expectations and our execution and this gap is often filled with pressure, anxiety and doubt! Over a prolonged period of time, this can lead to a reduced sense of role clarity, burnout, and a distorted sense of success. At M-A-P, we believe: - There is a difference between high-performance and sustainable high-performance - There is an inescapable link between person and performer - Finding a purpose in performance increases perseverance
