Advertising Week New York was, as always, a powerhouse of innovation. The area that captured our attention most was the operational shift happening within Commerce Media. Here are our Top 3 Takeaways on the state of Commerce Media from Ben Rickard: 1. Measure Incrementality, Not Just ROAS: The gold standard for measuring in-store media is shifting. Focus on store vs store incremental sales to capture the incremental uplift, moving away from relying solely on individual attribution metrics. 2. Contextual Creative is a Data Problem: In-store creative is fundamentally different from online, with a reported 2.5x lift in effectiveness when contextually relevant. Brands must leverage data to understand customers' mindsets and in-store micro-environmental factors. This includes physically entering stores when planning! 3. Omnichannel Execution: To achieve true scale, commerce media is moving "Beyond the Cart." This means successfully leveraging differentiated first-party data to activate off-site.
