Today we are announcing a number of changes to our leadership team as we move forward into the next phase of our growth ambition. One of our Co-op’s most distinctive strengths is that of our role as a supplier to other businesses. Over 5,000 of the stores we support belong to external partners and expanding this expertise is central to our ambition of stretching further into existing and new markets. To achieve this we are creating a new Group Commercial and Logistics division, which will be a cornerstone of our growth strategy, enabling us to build and realise mutually beneficial opportunities with new partners and customers. The new division will combine the buying power of our Co-op, servicing all Co-op stores, franchise, independent societies and Nisa, and will create a significant buying group across both Goods For Resale & Goods Not For Resale areas. Current Co-op Food Managing Director Matt Hood will lead this new division harnessing his extensive experience, expertise and commercial ability. Matt will start his new role with immediate effect and a search is now underway for a new MD of Food Retail. In the interim period the remaining Food leadership team will report directly to our Group CEO Shirine Khoury-Haq We are also delighted to announce that Wais Shaifta has agreed to join our leadership team and Operating Board as our new Chief Growth Officer with responsibility for our Co-op Group Strategy and the delivery of our future growth agenda. Wais joined our Group Board this year as an Independent Non-Executive Director. Wais brings with him a wealth of experience which has seen him lead and also scale businesses across a number of consumer sectors including Just Eat, Treatwell and Push Doctor. Managing Director for Growth and Business to Business Jerome Saint-Marc has spent the past two years establishing our B2B capabilities across Co-op Wholesale and Franchise. He has also provided the strategic focus for us to pursue further growth opportunities across our 3 business areas of Food, Life Services & B2B. Having firmly embedded the B2B agenda, Jerome has decided that now is the right time to pursue further opportunities outside of our Co-op. His contribution has been highly significant, he has set us up for our future growth ambition and we wish him well for the future. As a result of Jerome’s decision, MD for Co-op Wholesale Katie Secretan will also report directly to Shirine and join Co-op’s Operating Board. We are excited by the opportunities that lie ahead as we move forward into the next phase of our growth ambition.

Love this - Trev is a true Co-op legend. I’m sure the many colleagues who’ve got involved in his adventures would agree!
Giving back is a huge part of who we are. Co-op colleagues such as Trevor come together to support our charity partners, building stronger bonds while helping causes our members care about.
