The latest Ericsson Mobility Report confirms what many of us in the industry are already seeing: 5G adoption is accelerating. By the end of 2025, nearly one-third of all global mobile subscriptions are expected to be on 5G. Even more impressively, 5G networks will carry 80% of global mobile traffic by 2030. Here in Malaysia, we’re already seeing strong 5G momentum that is being driven by expanded rural coverage, increased availability of 5G-enabled devices and growing demand for faster, more reliable connectivity. Malaysia is already embedded in the next phase of digital evolution. At the heart of this progress is DNB’s intelligent, future-proof 5G network, serving as the backbone for Malaysia’s digital transformation. This foundation has given Malaysia a head start in becoming the region’s leading digital economy. As we look ahead, it's vital that Malaysia continues to foster an open, innovation-friendly 5G ecosystem. Across Southeast Asia and Oceania, 5G subscriptions are projected to hit 630 million by 2030, representing nearly half of all mobile users. Nokia fiscal results out. Most of the bad news behind Nokia with all units improving. Follow Appledore Research for our coverage of Nokia Ericsson Huawei Ciena Cisco Networking Juniper Networks Dell Technologies Hewlett Packard Enterprise Samsung Networks Fujitsu Network Communications 9% net sales growth year-on-year in Q4. Net sales growth in Network Infrastructure accelerated to 17%, with IP Networks growing 24%, Fixed Networks 16% and Optical Networks 7%. This reflected a strong recovery in demand from communication service providers, notably in North America. Mobile Networks net sales stabilized with continued resilience in gross margin. Nokia won 18 000 additional base station sites, since the start of 2024 on a net basis. Cloud and Network Services returned to 7% net sales growth in the quarter. Both Core Networks and Enterprise Campus Edge grew strongly.

Germany is once again demonstrating its expertise in delivering reliable connectivity for commuters. While the UK continues to grapple with patchy mobile coverage across much of its rail network, countries like Germany are pushing ahead, demonstrating what’s possible with focused investment and the right technology. The latest example? An innovative collaboration between Ericsson and Vodafone Germany to deliver uninterrupted 5G coverage through the Arlinger Tunnel near Pforzheim. This 1,400-metre tunnel now benefits from Ericsson’s innovative Antenna System, using specially developed Logarithmic Periodic antennas designed to withstand the high vibrations and shifting air pressure of fast-moving trains and traffic—conditions that typically disrupt signal quality. The result: continuous mobile reception, uninterrupted calls, and high-speed data access for Vodafone customers, even underground. For commuters, this goes beyond convenience—it’s about a safer, more connected, and more efficient travel experience. From the first call on Vodafone’s network 40 years ago to today’s 5G Standalone (5GSA) infrastructure, we’ve come a long way.   5GSA is a major leap forward. On a dedicated network, built from the ground-up for 5G, it delivers faster speeds, lower latency, and smarter energy use. And it’s not just about better streaming - it’s about enabling real-time innovation.   For businesses, network slicing is a great example of what 5GSA can do. This technology enables organisations to carve out their own private lane on the network, tailored to their specific needs. At Glastonbury, @VodafoneThree used network slicing to connect 102 payment machines across three bars, enabling up to two transactions per minute.
