Our partners at OVO have released their new Climate Transition Plan, which makes a powerful statement: electrifying home heating is the next front line in the UK’s climate and a key step to reaching net zero goals. The plan outlines concrete steps to decarbonise domestic energy by rebalancing policy costs to favour electricity over gas, deploying heat pumps and solar PV, and investing in renewable capacity through affordable financing and government incentives. OVO, enabled by Kaluza’s software, is investing in new ways to help decarbonise home energy use, making it more accessible and affordable for customers by: ✅ Ramping up solar and heat pump installations to empower customers to generate their own clean power. ✅ Incentivising renewable adoption by enabling long-term customers to bank a solar panel or free miles for their future EV. ✅ Leveraging Kaluza’s technology to heat and cool homes as well as smart charge EVs when energy is at its cheapest and greenest. ✅ Rewarding customers for shifting electricity consumption to when renewable energy is most abundant. This is the time for policymakers, suppliers, networks, tech providers, and innovators to act together to decarbonise heating and the energy system as a whole. DESNZ has just published a map of all the renewable energy assets being backed by the state, such as through CfDs or via GB Energy.
