We've updated our guidance to help you better understand the process, how to work with us at every stage and the importance of reporting early. You’re legally required to report to us in the 72-hour timeframe and providing us with as much information as you can, helps us to build a picture, provide the right support and bring in the right teams within the ICO. But we also understand that it's not always possible to provide a full and complete picture within the 72-hour reporting requirement, especially if the breach is complex or ongoing. That's why we're asking organisations to remember to "Report Early - Update Later". You’re legally required to meet the 72-hour timeframe and so at that point you should provide whatever relevant information you have to us at this stage. But we're encouraging you not to delay reporting and remember you can provide any additional details to us at a later stage.
