AlamoONLINE Receives Quality Matters Endorsement for Online Learning Excellence

The Alamo Colleges District’s AlamoONLINE initiative has received the Quality Matters™ (QM™) Endorsement for Course Design Quality Assurance, affirming both the quality of the institution’s internal review process and the quality of individual courses that meet all QM Essential Review Standards. Alamo Colleges District is the first institution of higher education to receive this endorsement from Quality Matters™.
All five Alamo Colleges offer fully online degrees, certificates, and occupational skills awards through AlamoONLINE.
Courses that meet QM’s rigorous standards for Foundational Design feature clear learning objectives, aligned assignments and assessments, intuitive navigation, and engaging content, empowering learners to focus on learning while supporting higher retention and completion rates. Because of the QM Endorsement, courses that meet QM Standards in AlamoONLINE’s internal review process will be listed on QM’s Foundational Design Recognition registry.
“This endorsement reaffirms our commitment to providing high-quality online learning that supports student success at every level,” said Dr. Mike Flores, Alamo Colleges District Chancellor. “It is a testament to the dedication of our talented instructional designers, faculty, and staff to ensure that all learners receive an exceptional online experience.”
During fall 2025, more than 17,600 students were enrolled entirely online across the Alamo Colleges, supported by over 1,000 faculty members teaching at least one online course section.
Looking ahead, AlamoONLINE plans on enhancing virtual support services including advising, mental health resources, and academic coaching.
Through the recently approved $987 million bond, the Alamo Colleges will continue investing in brand-new facilities to support academic and workforce programs, including centers for nursing, advanced manufacturing, and emerging technologies. As part of that effort, the Alamo Colleges will also introduce a new School for Online Learning, designed to continue giving learners flexible options and more enhanced digital learning experiences.
