Allegiant pilots demand a contract now On November 18, across 22 bases nationwide, in rain, snow, heat, and cold, they stood together in solidarity. This wasn’t just a picket — it was a clear message to Allegiant management and the Board. Pilots, flight attendants, and unions from across the industry united to amplify their voice. SWAPA, ALPA, APA, TWU, IBT — your support matters, and they are grateful. This is more than a fight for a fair contract; it’s about respect, dignity, and the future of the profession. Allegiant must invest in its pilots — the airline’s greatest asset — or risk losing talent and stability. They are organized. They are united. And they’re not stopping. Watch how Allegiant pilots made history and sent a message that cannot be ignored. Check out their full video, link in comments. #Solidarity #Aviation #AllegiantPilots

Aero Crew News Money Column: Solving the College Savings Puzzle: 529s vs. Prepaid Plans Financial planners emphasize that college planning, like retirement planning, is best started now, as tuition costs historically rise faster than almost any other expense. The question is: Which saving tool is right for a family? The Texas Tuition Promise Fund (Prepaid) This program allows families to lock in today’s tuition rates for future Texas college costs. Pro: Minimal market risk and guaranteed tuition rate. Con: Only covers tuition and fees—not room, board, or books. Also has limited flexibility for out-of-state schools. The 529 Savings Plan A 529 plan operates similar to a Roth IRA for education, offering tax-free growth and withdrawals for qualified expenses. Pro: Highly flexible (covers tuition, fees, room, board, books, etc.) and can be used nationwide. Con: Investment returns are subject to market risk and are not guaranteed. Why Not Use Both? Experts suggest that the most powerful strategy is often a combination of the two: The prepaid plan protects against tuition inflation The 529 plan provides flexibility and covers non-tuition expenses. Families who plan ahead rarely regret it. The key is simply to start saving and stick to the strategy that helps the family sleep best at night. “Good night, Malaysian Three Seven Zero,” After nearly a decade, the search for Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370 is set to resume. On Dec. 30, U.S.-based marine robotics firm Ocean Infinity will restart seabed operations in the southern Indian Ocean, renewing hope that the missing Boeing 777 might finally be found. Despite one of the largest ocean searches in history, only a few small debris fragments ever washed ashore, and no bodies or major wreckage have been recovered. MH370 vanished on March 8, 2014, 39 minutes after departing Kuala Lumpur for Beijing. The final radio call — “Good night, Malaysian Three Seven Zero” — was followed by the loss of its transponder, an unexplained turnback over the Andaman Sea, and satellite data indicating it flew for hours before likely crashing into a remote stretch of ocean. Families, investigators, and the global aviation community now watch closely, hoping this renewed effort will finally bring answers and closure. #MH370 #MalaysiaAirlines #OceanInfinity #MissingFlight #AviationHistory

Hope Above the Clouds: The Legacy of Angel Flight Central In 1995, Kansas City pilot Jim Stevens, a cancer survivor seeking purpose, took a simple idea and turned it into a massive movement of hope. With a $3,000 grant, he launched what became Angel Flight Central (AFC), setting an initial goal of 12 flights in the first year. They flew 12 flights in the first month! Nearly 30 years later, AFC continues to operate within ten Midwest states, providing over 52,000 free flights to children and adults needing distant, non-emergency medical care. This grassroots organization, powered by 330+ volunteer pilots, is a testament to the power of compassion in the skies. AFC's impact is profound: Over 17 million nautical miles flown (the equivalent of circling the globe 683 times!). Volunteer pilots donated over $2.3 million in flight services last year alone. Angel Flight Central asks the community to help spread the word so they can continue to connect people with the critical care they need. Read the full article, link in comments.
