We're proud to see Aluma towers supporting critical environmental research in the field! In the arid Date Palm fields of Wellton, Arizona, two of our mobile telescoping towers helped elevate precision instruments used in an eddy covariance system—essential for monitoring evapotranspiration and carbon flux. These insights are vital for sustainable agriculture and smart water use, especially in high-demand crops like date palms. We're honored to play a role in advancing agricultural innovation with reliable, American-made elevation solutions.
Laboratory Manager at the Center for Hydrologic Innovations supporting the Arizona Water Innovation Initiative, Water Infrastructure Finance Authority of Arizona, SW Integrated Field Laboratory, CAP LTER and Jornada LTER
Understanding water and carbon dynamics is essential for sustainable agriculture—especially in arid regions where water is limited. Eddy covariance systems are powerful tools that measure evapotranspiration and carbon fluxes, helping growers and researchers make informed decisions about water use and crop productivity. In the Date Palm fields at Oasis Dates in Wellton, Arizona, we recently deployed an eddy covariance tower to monitor these critical variables. We used two mobile telescoping towers from Aluma- A Will-Burt Company to install a Sonic Anemometer (Campbell Scientific), CO₂ gas analyzer (LI-COR), Radiometer (Kipp & Zonen) PAR sensor (Apogee Instruments Products) and Temperature and Relative humidity (HygroVue) sensors at a height of 29.5 ft (9.02 m). These measurements are especially important in high-water-demand crops like date palms. Huge thanks to Alonso Israel Haros Verdugo and Johnny Arriola Reyes for their excellent work in making this deployment a success!

FTEM 2025- Last week, the communications unit participated in Florida’s Training for Emergency Management (FTEM) in Orlando. Region 5 personnel displayed region 5 EDICS, a deployable 700 MHz radio system and satellite and networking gear. These assets are available to emergency management and other public safety agencies to establish on scene communications networks. The EDICS program is one of Florida’s original post 9/11 interoperability resources that remains active in Regions 3, 5, 6 and 7. The region 5 unit based in Lake County recently underwent a modernization program to extend the life of this vital equipment. Shout out to the Florida Division of Emergency Management for hosting the FTEM training conference and logistics resource display day. #FTEM #COML #COMT #ESF2
