National Rural Health Day is tomorrow, and at Amery Hospital & Clinic, we’re proud to deliver quality care that’s close to home in western Wisconsin. Rural communities like ours are strengthened when care, technology and community partnerships come together. Among our investments, we’re expanding virtual and phone visits and offering at-home colorectal cancer screening collection kits. We’re also building a stronger rural workforce through partnerships and programs like our Western Wisconsin Rural Family Medicine Residency, recently ranked among the top programs preparing physicians for rural practice by the Rural Medical Training Collaborative. “Rural care must be as safe, effective, affordable and accessible as care in our city centers,” says Andrea Walsh, president and CEO. “It’s not a question of if; it’s a question of how. That’s where so much of our innovation is happening.”

Thanks to the incredible generosity of our community, Amery Hospital & Clinic Foundation’s 5th Annual Wonderful World of Wine event raised more than $22,000 to support patients in critical financial need. Held at Chateau St. Croix Winery in St. Croix Falls, the evening brought together 94 guests, 20+ volunteers and 11 generous sponsors united by compassion and community spirit. Amery Hospital & Clinic values the role of fresh produce in children’s health. This summer, our PowerUp team has been at the Amery Farmer’s Market on Mondays from 3 to 6 p.m. promoting the Power of Produce Club, or PoP Club. Each week, the team hands out tokens to kids ages 2 to 17. When kids and teens sign up for the club, they get $4 worth of tokens to pick out their choice of fruits and vegetables at the market. The club creates a positive interaction with food and showcases the vibrant flavors that come from fresh produce. This event is meaningful for our team as we watch kids discover new foods and connect with local growers, highlighting how fresh produce promotes wellness and creativity. Our PowerUp team will be at the farmers’ market through Sept. 17. We hope to see you there!

The Amery Hospital & Clinic Foundation raised more than $50,000 at its 37th Annual Golf Classic & Fundraiser. Many thanks to the 25 golf teams, 27 sponsors and 50 volunteers who helped make this event another great success.
